Mishandled easy case. Awful.

As an attorney I find it highly inappropriate how he handled a civil cause I was involved in over 5 years ago. He decided to allow a motion for trial while I was attending law school time zones away. Rejected continuance to allow me to be present for the trial. Days later, he was off my case and the 'trial' was as big of a joke as this judge's understanding of the legal field and his courtroom ability.

Roger Fein is hands down one of the top judges in all of Cook County. You cannot do better than a Judge like him.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: IL1895
Rating:1.1
Comments:
At the onset, Judge seems cordial but that is a trap. Don't let his apparent cordiality impress you. He favors certain attorneys and whatever they want, he gives them. His background is corporate so he panders to corporate lawyers. If you are a pro se, get a substitution of judge right away. Ho doesn't follow the law or the facts but rule on his own opinion. If he favors a side, he does whatever to make that side wins.

Rating:2.5
Comments:
Does not paper to know the rules of evidence and tends to decide based upon personal opinion rather than facts of the case (or rule of law). Seems to favor certain counsel, which may also play a role in determinations (wish that last part was not so apparent). Otherwise, seemingly nice man, just not all that fair in ruling. Use SOJ if available and avoid bench trial.

Appears to rule on personal opinion of cases rather than the law.

If you are a Pro Se litigant, seems this Judge may eventually cave in to politics, inside and professional pressures.
