Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: IL2299
Rating:3.5
Comments:
Judge White should have retired long ago. On the bench, it seems clear he has no idea what is going on, frequently asking questions or making statements that make you question his lucidity. He is downright mean to pro-se litigants, constantly berating them that "YOU ARE NOT A LAWYER" while pointing to the opposing side's lawyer and saying "HE/SHE IS A LAWYER, YOU'RE NOT! GO IN THE HALL AND HE'LL/SHE'LL TELL YOU WHAT'S GOING ON/WHAT TO DO/ETC." It's embarrassing to the bar to have someone on the bench treat people like this. Don't make special rulings for pro-se litigants, but don't make them less than equal either.

White clearly has a creditor bias and refuses to listen when his mind is made up. In our case, he spent almost an entire oral argument making statements to the effect that another judge (who had a different part of the case) could issue orders undoing what he was entering in our case, and that he (Judge White) didn't want to handle anything further on the case. When the other judge heard the case for the first got the case, he called White who - inexplicably - told the new judge that he would take the case back. Absolutely maddening - it's like dealing with a relative with Alzheimer's.

Please Judge White, do yourself, the bar and the litigants in front of you a huge favor and retire, immediately.
