One of Cook County's best judges. Even temperament, kind nature, thoughtful decisions, most of which are written so you can see his reasoning. Anytime I have ever lost in front of him, it was probably the right call. At the moment, Skokie has some of the best civil judges. Too bad Roger Fein is not there, he was excellent as well.

Gives lawyers deference over pro se folks. Seems unable to keep to his own rules especially for attorneys. He asked for written pleadings then allowed oral quietly in an almost whispered exchange with lawyer. Is also lacking in knowledge.

An absolute disgrace. Awarding attorneys fees in an attorney fee lawsuit. After pointing out that was in direct violation of the law, and the attorney asking for his fees knew it was a violation, Machnik claims it could be sanctions, not attorneys fees. Wait, what? Absolutely awful.
