Very fair judge and un-biased. Most definitely knows the law in a building full of unqualified hack judges.

This judge should not preside over cases of sexual assault. He allowed a serial rapist to go free. The states attorney assured me that my case was strong. There was dna evidence, evidence of bruising and scrapes recorded by the emergency room nurse, my testimony, the verbal testimony of another woman who had been raped by the same man earlier. (She took a greyhound bus from another state just to participate. I don't even know her.) The rapist still walked free! I'm not sure how the judge came to his conclusion of innocence. Beware if you are in this judge's court. The whole legal process is incredibly demeaning for the victim of rape as it is, but the judge just took it to another level of insult. It would have been so easy for me to have just walked away and healed myself on my own. But the thought that this guy had raped at least 2 women before (those were just the ones who'd reported it), put some steel in my spine and made me press on for justice. I revisited the trauma for the trial. I re-lived it for the sake of telling it before this judge. In all truth, and with painful detail, I told this judge what had happened to me. And the judge found that I was lying. Judge James Obbish is not fit to be a judge. Because of him, a serial rapist walks free in Chicago.
