I don't know why my previous opinion was deleted from this comment board, but I am reposting it.

Judge Everngam had obviously made up his mind about our case before it had even been called. Our attorney did a good job at proving reasonable doubt, something which Everngam simply discarded by calling our most important witness a liar. Well, that sure explained all the factual discrepancies between the plaintiff's testimony and the defense witnesses'! (Sarcasm intended.) Then Everngam proceeded to make a rousing and personal** defense of the plaintiff, a man who had been repeatedly contradicted by three different defense witnesses (all of whom were women), championing him more vigorously than even the ASA had. Everngam didn't even try to hide the extent to which he personally identified with the plaintiff.

If I had a million dollars, I would sit in Everngam's courtroom all day long and enable all the female parties against whom he rules a fair hearing. (The money wouldn't last long.) It blows my mind that some local attorneys describe his participation on a mental health committee in such glowing terms when he himself shows such obvious issues with the women who appear in his courtroom. A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

The worst part of all was that Everngam gave such validation to and created such expectations on the part of the plaintiff, the one party in the case who had lied about everything, virtually guaranteeing more plaintiff-initiated confrontations between this one man and the three women who testified against him. My family member couldn't possibly be the only woman in Montgomery County who left Judge Everngam's court in more fear than before she entered it. The plaintiff couldn't wait to go home and rally more neighbors to his cause, thereby exponentially worsening the ongoing harassment my family member was already being subjected to. And why wouldn't he? The plaintiff had gotten away with every lie he told in Everngam's courtroom and had been rewarded for them handsomely with the judge's own rousing defense and praise of him.

I just didn't know that this kind of obvious sexual discrimination was still commonplace in Montgomery County courts.

A very good judge. He is very scholarly, and will give a lecture from the bench on how a statute developed from case law. Very helpful to both plaintiffs and defendants. Extremely patient with pro se defendants.
