As the other poster noted below, Judge McCrone had no qualms about exercising and abusing his judicial power. It is frightening as a litigant to feel completely powerless and unprotected. A year ago, I was granted a year-long protective order against my now-former spouse. He was a highly abusive alcoholic and the district court saw fit to protect the children and me. Fast forward to my recent divorce in which I was not believed and called all sorts of horrible, untrue things by not only the defense, but the judge himself. He wouldn't allow certain things into exhibit nor would he hear my witness' testimony. It was clear Judge McCrone had made up his mind about me no more than two minutes into my six hours of testifying and two days of trial. Should you find yourself in Judge McCrone's courtroom, come prepared for anything and have the toughest attorney you can find. However, even that may not protect you if you are an outspoken female.

It was quite obvious from Mr. McCrone's performance during a trial that he believes that he himself is above the law. It's very disturbing when a person, who has the responsibility of being the trier of facts, does not actually bother to take the time to read the documents that have been submitted to the Court prior to trial. When a year's worth of legal engagement and court filings are to come down to a 2-day trial, it's expected that the presiding Judge will actually review the filings, motions, etc prior to the start of trial. We found him to be extremely rude, condescending, arrogant, and instead of being the embodiment of what could be right in the legal system, exemplifies what is dreadfully wrong. Watch carefully as he actually begins writing his opinion at the bench before the other side has even begun presenting! Didn't YOU also believe that a trial doesn't end until both sides actually present their cases? Not so in McCrone's courthouse. Maybe he suffers from flashbacks from likely a long string on presumed-guilty people during his stint at the State's attorney's office? Bottom line: find a way to ensure that this Judge has actually done his job before trial, or you'll continue to be in disbelief and disatisfied with the execution of a right and principles that this country was founded on (introductory principles that Mr. McCrone has clearly forgotten).

Judge McCrone heard my father's guardianship trial. He ruled to quash a subpoena for my father to be present at the hearing despite noting the law and the court rule which entitled him to be present at his trial. I was pro se and he was rude disrepectful to me, he quashed subpoena's of three witnesses who had appeared and told them they could go home. He told me that I was not allowed to ask questions on exhibits I had entered into evidence and tole me I could not ask certain questions. But the attorneys could entere whatever evidence they wanted and did not restrict the evidence they wished the present. It was obvious to me at the outset that the case was fixed as Judge Paul Harris was the guardianship judge in that courthouse and the brohter in law of the petitioner. The most disgusting thing of all is that Judge McCrone denied my motion to postpone that I requested because my mother was in critical condition in the hospital and asked for the postponement because the balance of the family could not attend. In his closing argument, he stated that my brother who was unable to attend because he was at my Mother;s bedside at the Intensive Care Unite in another state (NJ) "was a fine fellow who didn't even bother to show up today". Judge McCone in my opinion is a digusting low life who does not deserve to be a judge. The Maryland courts are disgusting an corrupt.

I was before Judge McCrone in a complicated civil matter with multiple lawyers and multiple parties. He was specially assigned to the case. I was very impressed with his care in listening to counsel's arguments and his ability to understand the complex issues.

I found Judge McCrone to be attentive, fair minded, courteous, but most of all FAIR. As a Plaintiff, he ruled in my favor, but also called me out on my own behavior. He was attentive, took notes, and questioned Petitioners himself to clarify "questionable" answers. I wish ALL Judges were of the quality of Judge McCrone. He was "Honerable". I am not saying this just because he ruled in my favor. When he retired to chambers to debate his decision, I did not feel I was going to necessarily win the case based on the lambasting he gave me before hand.

This Judge during his ruling said it was reasonable for a Petitioner to first committ the act of second degree assault on a respondant in a case that is now under an "in banc" review. He believes it is okay to break the very laws he was sworn to uphold. He obviously believes he is exempt from following Maryland Rule 16-813.

Judge McCrone was very sensitive to the litigants feelings regarding his ruling, he is courteous, firm but certainly not rude as some judges can be, gentle, and sets the tone for extremely courteous behavior in the court room. He is destined to go far.
