He plays favorites, and he favors insurance defense attorneys far too often. He suffers from "robeitis."

Winkie and Nod, it doesn't sound like your clients did too well in front of Judge Algeo. Interesting. I have had cases in front of him, and he has always seemed fair and even-handed. He has the reputation of being one of the more knowledgeable judges in the Circuit Court, particularly involving criminal matters and evidentiary issues. Now, as far as being state-oriented, if your client is convicted of a serious felony, watch out. He can hit the long ball! Thus, his well earned nickname, "The Hammer." But, overall, he gives you a fair trial.

I am really tired of the McLeod family constantly attacking Judge Algeo in this forum. They have expressed their vile views repeatedly, looking to blame him when he executed his judicial duties in a fair and balanced manner, while dealing with the circus created by Hera McLeod.

This judge is atrocious; he should be forced off the bench. He is a men's rights advocate. Yes, he attempts to defend an abusive man's right to take unsupervised custody of his innocent son. What a nightmare for the mother and the community! This judge was too stupid and too blind to see that this boy's father was a monster.

Do not let him get away with the fake curative instruction and the wink-and-nod with his favorite attorney. This is what he does with the State's Attorneys in criminal cases. He is 100% state-oriented, and his rulings and winks and nods to the State destroy cases. You lose and then you have to appeal, usually pro bono, and then you win. It is unethical, biased, deceitful, and prejudicial against the defendants, always, and it is very wrong! Appeal and you will win. There is never harmless error with him. He tries to get away with intentional, spiteful, "harmless error" so that the defendant loses, but it isn't harmless -- it sways the jury, and he wants that.

I tried a personal injury case in front of him. He was decent, and let you try the case, but he leaned pro-defense, it seemed to me. The defense attorney knew him well and intentionally did some things (ask inadmissible loaded questions) that I objected to, and so I requested a mistrial. Judge Algeo didn't give it to me, and when he said he would give a curative instruction I rolled my eyes and the defense attorney smiled, saying "That's what you get; do you want it?" I lost the case, and afterwards two jury members told me it was because of that one witness where the defense counsel intentionally blurted out inadmissible info in the guise of asking a question. Judges and defense attorneys know a lot of defense rulings amount to a mountain of "harmless errors."

The dishonorable Judge Michael J. Algeo was complicit in the murder of 15-month-old Prince McLeod Rams. It is an utter disgrace that this man would remain on the bench. He ought to be disbarred and brought up on criminal charges of child endangerment and neglect.

His decision in my child custody case had mild racial undertones. Even now, after several years, I can't shake that feeling. From the onset, the opposing counsel's strategy was to paint my client as a stereotypical black welfare mom. But she was a good mother to her minor child, she was respectful and even-tempered, and had no problems with crime, drugs or alcohol (nor did she stay a welfare recipient for long). Besides, her abilities were supported by: a) the psychologist; b) the court-appointed social worker; and c) the Master, all of whom recommended that she get custody. I was appalled by the tactics on the other side, but I thought, for sure, that this judge could see through it. Well, he fell flat on his face, and showed none of the wisdom implicit in his position. He seemed to prefer that the party on the other side had a white girlfriend, and even though neither her, nor her boyfriend paid any attention to the child, they deserved to keep him because they discussed how he was fed on "fruits and vegetables." I almost laughed, but for this judge, I almost gagged.

He seems to favor defense attorneys in civil matters and runs roughshod over plaintiffs' counsel. He was once even-handed, but now seems bitter.

Judge Algeo should be removed from the Bench. He is as responsible for a child's death as the father who committed the crime. Judge Algeo is a despicable human being. Any and all possible charges should be brought against this Judge as the law allows.

SHAME ON YOU FOR BLOWING SMOKE at a family who needed you AND KILLING A BABY in the process. There is no honor in talking down to a mother desperate to save her child and blantantly ignoring evidence provided by lawmen. You are a disgrace. You failed that sweet baby. May his last moments haunt forever haunt you.

If you carry the title, "Honorable Justice so-and-so", shouldn't you be honorable and carry out your duty with justice? Unbelievable travesty of justice.

I want to clarify that I give this judge ZERO STARS, except that the criteria indicate that 1 star equals 'worst', that's the only reason I bothered selecting it.

I am so ashamed that he references his Veteran's status when presiding over this county. What a disgrace to the position he has been appointed to, to the state of Maryland and ultimately to our country.

You made it clear that you "hate family court." If it is that difficult a position for you to hold, perhaps you will consider stepping down?

The least you could do is return to your chambers to focus on that plaque your wife gave you: "In fifty years it won't matter what car you're driving ... it will matter that you made a difference in the life of a child."

It is so shameful that the difference you made was so poorly chosen. Anyone can make mistakes, but you blatantly ignored facts and scoffed at the young woman who pleaded with you to protect her son. Shame on you! If you must hate your job, try to take it out on someone other than the innocent children over whose lives (and deaths) you preside.

Appeared bored during custody hearing. Claimed to hate family court. His lack of interest in my grandson's case led to the baby dying at the hands of the sperm donor during the 4th unsupervised visit.

Judge Algeo ignored testimony about Child abuse, accepted obviously fake documents, and granted a child abuser unsupervised visitation with my toddler son. My son died as a result of Judge Algeos decision. It was only on the fourth unsupervised visitation with his father. Judge Algeo should resign.

One of those judges that got to Circuit because he had been in District too long.

He completely disregarded the opinions of the Master and the Coordinator in reaching a ruling not supported by the evidence. He took an irrelevant phrase from the recommendations and claimed it as the reason for his decision. He might as well have thrown a dart at the document for all the importance of that paragraph. He took into consideration extraneous evidence. He obviously has an inferiority-complex about opposing counsel and the witnesses. He was tickled pink that one of the witnesses was an important person and that completely clouded his judgment. He felt the need to belittle me while ruling against me. I would have been justified in retorting in kind.

He engenders no confidence about his ability to try any kind of case.

Judge Algeo did not do any research (read the cases cited by both sides) in an area of family law necessary to rule on a motion and as a result, ruled incorrectly. Judge Algeo has also appeared to the parties to have taken sides in an inappropriate manner causing a party (not counsel) to research and uncover a significant relationship between Judge Algeo and the counsel of the party whom he favored throughout the trial.
