On a very personal level I like this judge, but she's not near as good as she thinks she is. Average at best. Tries to give a fair trial, which is good, but that's her only real strength. Light on scholarship.

Comment MD1518, I know 100% she can be unfair, because I lived it. I am dissatisfied with her processes, but that does not make me any less capable of fairly judging her as a judge. It does not make me a nut case.

Comments:
I have handled numerous criminal cases of all kinds before this judge. The suggestions that she is anything but fair and thoughtful are ridiculous. She is even handed and cannot be bullied. She is well thought of by both prosecution and defense. My problem with sites like these are that it is difficult for the reader to seperate the nut cases and dissatisfied litigants from the responsible commentators. Judge Scrivener is getting a raw deal from the former and insufficient support from the latter.

Comments:
This Judge is very biased. My own attorney, one of the best 10 attorneys in Montgomery county, acknowledged she did not allow for a fair trial. She appears in 2-3 sites as one of the worst Judges in America, which is very unusual.

'Who here has heard her "powers in equity" speech?'

I heard about this indirectly. She was a bit of a strong-armed judge in my case, I think, against both both my ex-wife and I. Still, she brokered a settlement that at the end of the day I could live with and in many ways better and many ways worse that I thought it would end up. With all my troubles in the last three years I've seen more judges than I ever want to again. Of them all I must admit she's the best judge I've appeared before in MoCo.

This judge has no problem violating a person's constitutional rights with threats in judge's chambers. Who here has heard her "powers in equity" speech?

Terrific Judge. She ruled against me! I still think she was great, though I was disappointed. I think she listened and considered the case very carefully. She did not interrupt, pre-judge either party, she was kind, put me at ease when testifying (small case). The law is what it is, sometimes it is wrong, but the Judges have to follow it.

An very experienced and thoughtful judge. despite other comments, she is adept at handling litigants and litigation in all aspects of the circuit court docket. All judges should be like her.

This judge exhibits very poor judgement and scant knowledge in cases other than domestic. She abused her discretion in my case, and acted with predjudice toward me.

Shes tough to crack- and I am grateful for her issusing a protective order against my ex. No contact was the best thing the court has ever done for me.
She calls it like she see;s it. She is one of the few who somewhat undertand the dynamics of Domestic Violence

She is always well-prepared for hearings, and will read voluminous amounts of material to acquaint herself with the case. Plus, win or lose, she has the judicial temperament that doesn't leave one side or the other feeling horrible.

Very good judge. It is generally known she is no longer interested in trying family law cases, but she does a very good job when she hears them.
