Civil Litigation - Private

Rating:1.7
Comments:
One only needs to review Judge Thompson’s published opinions (on the Court’s website) to see how shallow his understanding of the law really is. He seems very proud of these opinions, but delusional about the fact that most of his published rulings have been reversed by COSA or COA!
Nowadays, he presides over name changes, structured settlements and did I say name changes? He has finally arrived.

Good general knowledge, can be polite and comes across as a gentleman, however, has poor judicial temperament when he loses his temper. Would have made a great Judge if he were as smart as he thought he was. Too self absorbed for the bench, THANK GOD HE IS OFF THE BENCH.

Smart with the law but never understood that women and other non-white men deserved the same respect as the white males.

Excellent judge. Knows the law, and when he doesn't, is willing to be educated. Very bright. Understands complex issues quickly. Very good judicial demeanor.

A good judge with wisdom as well as legal smarts.

Civil Litigation - Private

Rating:4.8
Comments:
Not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. Some of his rulings are contrary to the law, the facts, or both. In my experience, he is not willing to revisit his rulings even if they contain obvious errors (including mathematical errors). Have had several of his opinions overturned on appeal. Generally very polite, but shows poor judicial temperament when he loses his temper. Not one of the better judges in Montgomery County.
