He is retired now, but I do recall having him adjudicate an auto accident case resulting in a $105,000 jury verdict. He granted the defendant's motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict, reducing the jury award. There was no basis in law or fact for him to reduce the award. It was a racist call. He is a good settlement judge. But otherwise, I don't find his rulings very scholarly and legally sound.
