I was very impressed by Judge Simmons in the traffic court today. His manner and approach to defendants was exemplary. I was there as adult support for my teenage nephew. The Judge handled his case with understanding and that was his modus operandi for the 40 some others he dealt with in that room today. We need more like him.

Worst "judge" in my 30 year law career. Worse than Henry Monohan. Thank god he is mostly retired.

This guy is the worst judge. I have had him three times and every time he seemed to have his mind made up from the moment he saw me. He is very disrespectful and violates your rights & due process while yelling at you. He is completely pro official. The silver lining is that the circuit court has overturned each of his verdicts. Nice try though!

Judge Simmons has a friendly demeanor which appears to put defendants, lawyers, an others at ease. My concern about Judge Simmons is that he lets everything into evidence especially hearsay.

It is bad enough Judge Simmons allows hearsay and evidence that should not be admissible into bench trials, but now he is applying with the Judicial Nominating Commission to be a judge on the Circuit Court in which he could do that with jury trials.

Judge Simmons needs to focus on doing the job he has not the job he wants.

Judge Simmons needs to leave his personal agenda in his chambers. Has his mind made up before entering the
1049courtroom and leaves no room for alteration of his position. Not everyone fits into a mold, which he does not seem to understand. Do not bother trying to present any mitigating factors at sentencing - he loves incarcerating individuals. Angry man with little understanding.

This judge literally tried to dress me down for delays caused by opposing counsel. He was totally clueless. Bad scholarship, bad judgment. Maybe he should read up on a file before he throws a fit.

Absolutely draconian. He wanted to lock me up for 30 days for rescuing my cat. A landlord filed an erroneous protective order because she didn't want to give me 30 days to move out. When I was served at work (I only went "home" to sleep as I was avoiding her as much as possible) I was told by the police AND sheriffs that I would have to wait 3 days to retrieve my "property". I refused to let my cat starve so I got her along with her food & despite having solid evidence (timesheets & letter from my boss) that the landlord perjured herself on the protective order he still wanted to throw the book at me for violating it.

In criminal cases, horrible DUI trail judge but great sentencer. Judge Simmons is very smart and knows the law. His background is amazing - it can be summed up in one word, "courage".
