By far the most unprofessional judge I have ever seen. Punctuality isn’t her strong suit but also when asked for a postponement for a case she immediately denied it and said before the trial started “I already have my mind made up”. Proceeding into the trial she smiles and winks at the opposing counsel which was very inappropriate. Doesn’t have the best interest of a child but has the best interest of someone she knows so their name isn’t tarnished. I wish someone would fire her or at least go review her cases since she isn’t a non biased judge.

I worked in the courtroom of this judge for about 8 months as a police officer court liaison responsible for assisting the States' Attorney to get officers called into court for trial.
By the time I switched positions back to patrol, I was referring to Judge Purpura as "Her Highness." Behind the scenes, this judge expects court personnel to cater to her arrogance. From the extra padding she insists she needs in her already padded seat to always getting personally offended when someone disagrees with her on a point of order. She operates from a position of weak personal confidence so be sure to genuflect and pucker up with great flare and she will reward you with a better outcome regardless of the merits of your case. A true disgrace to the bench.

It's amazing reading other experiences the public has had with judge Purpura, and how similar my experience was with her as well. She removed a protective order put in place for the safety of my two daughters. She had all the evidence and testimony to uphold it, but I believe in my heart She wanted my children to be hurt. [Redacted by Ed.] There is absolutely nothing honorable about her... and if I could give her a rating of less than 1, she would have gotten it.

-o. Giving an update from 10 years ago from her ruling since the kids are grown. Because she can care less of evidence. Oh, and my ethnicity background, she made that clear. I have now to deal with a child with severe anxiety and personality disorder. Also, my child was sexually molested because she did not listen to the warnings, thinking criminals don't do anything. Thanks a lot!

She is one of the worst judge I have appeared before. She is biased, curt, unprofessional, and freely makes in appropriate ex-parte and disparaging comments. Her rulings are very state oriented and lets political considerations alter her rulings. Justice and integrity are severely compromised with any case she judges.
I have had her convict a client of domestic violence with zero proof other than the purported victims inconsistent testimony. I tried the same case with the same testimony on the DV petition and a different Baltimore County Judge not only found the claim unsubstantiated but essentially called her a liar.

This comment may be lengthy but I wanted to make my point of the kind of impact Judge Purpura has had on my life. I have come from a very long and difficult journey. My relationship with my ex-husband was toxic and abusive to say the least and lasted way too long. Sadly, our kids were exposed and I carry that burden to this day.
My ex and I divorced 7 years ago. I had no clue that was just the beginning of more pain my ex wanted to inflict upon us. For the last
3 years he has taken me in and out of court,
abusing the court system while filling the
courthouse with lies and putting a tremendous
amount of financial strain on myself and the kids.
He attempted to take my whole world from me. Our trial lasted 3 days. Judge Purpura did an excellent job seeing past his lies and deceit. I wholeheartedly trust her judgement and decisions. She is professional, kindhearted, and obviously passionate about her work in this world. In hopes that she sees this and others will know...I thank her from the bottom of my heart for finally setting my kids and I free from the shackles of an abusive and controlling individual. My heart and soul finally feel light again. Thank Judge Purpura!!

Found in favor of my patient who owed me $2000 and didn't show up twice because as a physician I didn't POST MY RATES IN WAITING ROOM like a car dealership. I could not believe what a horrible decision. Would not even explain her reason. She should not be allowed to judge. She was flirting with attorneys brazenly and making people uncomfortable. The most unprofessional judge I ever ran across.

I’m not sure why I see so many negative comments on here about Judge Purpura. I was before her today, September 16, 2019 for a plea and sentencing (and witnessed another case right before mine). She was extremely helpful, agreeing to bind to a plea without a lot of shenanigans (I never understand why judges feel the need to go harsher than a prosecutor recommends), and in a system of very, very harsh penalties she showed compassion. She takes the extra ten seconds to think about things. She took account of everyone’s feelings and did not punish overly harshly.
The case before mine was a 4th degree sex offense where a very young adult was basically duped by a teen into statutory rape. It was so obvious the kid was remorseful and even more obvious he was tricked. She handled it perfectly,

She is the WORST Judge I have ever appeared before. She is biased, unprofessional, and made excessive ex-parte and disparaging comments about one attorney to opposing counsel while on the record. She simply did not care that she was on the record. She greatly brings the previously stellar reputation and integrity of the Baltimore County bench to low levels. Justice and integrity are severely compromised with any case she judges.

Once again dealing with Judge Purpura is like dealing with an unstable chair- you never know when or how it will flip over but it always flips! She is nasty, rude, insecure, and treats her position as a public servant like she is the Red Queen. Unless you are Andy Alperstein she is demeaning, often confused or wrong or she confuses issues and blames the parties in front of her. She is not a lady and she not a role model.

Honorable Judge Purpura was extremely professional. I arrived late and she reminded me of court etiquette. I have never heard a judge say, "Always call." I truly appreciated her candor. Regarding the handling of my case evidence Hon. Judge Purpura listened and ruled accordingly without fan fair or pretenses. Thank You for your professionalism Judge Purpura.

If there was a "0" rating she would have gotten that! This judge is a disgrace! She is delusional and disgusts me. If something happens to the child who is in the hands of a monster full-time now, I blame it on this evil, sick "judge". I don't know what her problem is, but there was significant evidence that was totally disregarded--including that from a licensed psychologist who was appointed by the court to evaluate the parties in this case. Unbelievable!!!
