Civil Litigation - Private

Rating:1.2
Comments:
Incredibly biased towards Frederick insiders. Very lazy -- during a custody case she appeared to be falling asleep!

Litigant

Rating:1.0
Comments:
I lost in front of Judge Solt -- I appealed and won (Judge Solt was reversed). On remand, Judge Solt ignored the appeals court mandate and just reissued her (wrong) opinion. My lawyer advised me to just drop the issue, since he said that Judge Solt could keep playing this game (win on appeal, but Judge Solt would never honor that win).

Comments:
I have mixed feelings about Judge Solt. She does try to be fair, but she is biased, and once she makes up her mind, no evidence will change her opinion. I find her to be very opinionated. Sometimes, she is wrong.

After defending a 2-day civil bench trial before Judge Solt, I came away with a very positive impression. She is courteous, fair, attentive and closely follows the evidence. She did not favor the hometown Frederick lawers, which was my concern going in to trial.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: MD983
Rating:8.7
Comments:
She is an excellent judge with an even temper. Although she spent most of her career as a prosecutor, she is generally even-handed and is not afraid to rule against the State when necessary. Her prior experience comes out most in child abuse cases, where she is generally a tough sentencer (although most other judges are too). She works hard and is very good with the law. Does an great job in civil cases too. Should be an appeals court judge someday.
