`This has to be the most idiotic, clueless person that has ever sat on a bench. Her decision skills are absolutely horrible and make no sense at all. Pray to God that you don’t have her as a judge, she has no clue about the world and she will have no clue about your case…maybe she could ask an attorney that sits as an orphan judge to see how she would respond

Comment # MD9160 has it absolutely right:

“Why this judge is a darling to so many is a mystery. Patronizing, pedantic and at times shrewish. Not as knowledgeable as she believes she is. Very large sense of self-importance. Absolutely has forgotten where she came from. She doesn’t get it.”

Says it all.

Judge Serrette is the best judge in Maryland. She should be a model for all judges (and attorneys) for her professionalism, respect for all parties and brilliance.

She judges based on her personal emotions. Don’t ever say God in court, she cringes! She thinks she’s God when on the bench. She will try her be best to belittle you and will force you to agree with her. She fails to understand that one day she will be judged.

Lacks the ability to tell truth from lies, a skill that I thought was supposed to be mandatory for a judge. Rules by a feeling rather then using the facts. Has bias towards men. This person's position should be NO where near a bench where critical decisions need to be made.

This person should not be a judge! Her rulings appear to be feminist and sexually slanted. I had her twice in a custody case for myself. She told me during the first case I could see about getting more visitation time after taking a parenting class. I took the class, then in the modification hearing she told me there was not grounds for material change even though she made that exact statement in court during the last hearing. This person should not be allowed to practice as a judge. Her previous ruling ruled in favor of my ex and it did again as I'm only allowed 4 overnights with my children a month. Everything that I have read states that courts are supposed to rule in favor of joint custody as this has been shown to be in the best interest of the children but since I stated that I would like more time with my children, the judge used that statement against me and stated that I could not get more time due to the fact that I said, "I would like more time with my children" not "it is in the best interest of the children". This judge is not fair nor should she be allowed to practice as a judge. If you have questions, feel free to email at the above email address. I will be filing a complaint or complaints about this.

One of the brightest judges in Maryland. It would be a pity for those of us practicing before her to lose her to the appellate position. The right demeanor and the right level of involvement- she lets you try your case but is willing to challenge any claim that doesn't pass the smell test.

Does not take the law or standards into considerations.makes rulings based on emotion
. Doesn't even come close to being unbiased. Has a very hard time admitting when she has made an error. Racism, bias, emotionally and judicially not qualified. Does not permit children of color to make statement in the court. Always in favor of pro bono attorneys even when they are lying on stand. A disgrace to the circuit court.

She has been over seeing my child support case since 2014 unsuccessfully allowing the non custodial to get away with non payment and no consecquences. She has been over seeing another child support case he has and has allowed him to ge away with $39,000 in unpaid child support. She should be locked up right along with him for not doing her job and not caring about these innocent childrn involved. I guess as long as she is eating she can care less if our children do. what a waste of a seat on the bench!

Shocked at how biased she was. She ruled without reviewing an underlying order, refused a continuance and discussed lunch plans with opposing counsel…

I always have confidence in Judge Hollenberg Serrette. Unlike most of these comments I find the Judge to be very helpful to new attorneys and very fair. She is a state wide leader on legal issues related to immigrant children in the courts. I enjoy practicing before her.

Wow, I thought that I was the only litigant who felt like this judge ruled on emotion rather than the law. Judges are sworn to be neutral on the bench -- that does not apply to her.

Knows far less law and family law than she thinks she does. Seems to ignore facts frequently and rules from her emotions. Patronizing to attorneys and to the public, but thinks she is being protective of them. Believes that the courts are "the guardians of the people." (She actually said that). Gee, I thought that the courts were the guardians of the Law and the Constitution...

In front of her on family law matters frequently. She rules from emotions. She doesn't always listen. She delves into matters not pertinent nor relevant to the issues at hand. Like her a lot but not as a judge.

Since she has become head of the family division, she seemingly only takes the court schedule into account when ruling on some matters -- not the law or facts. This is unfortunate. She could be a good judge.

Does not listen to the facts. Rules from the hip. Forgets where she came from. If she lost to you when she was practicing, she takes it out on your client when back in front of her.
