Comments:
Judge Coven is crazy with his court findings and ordered that my disabled and elderly 85 year old mother go outside her 4 family Quincy Housing Authority apartment and big up papers. Now she has 2 fractures in her spine due to her osteoporosis and she can barely walk without her walker. She lives in a wheelchair ramp disability apartment but nobody else does at that 4 family home in Germantown. Insane court order by Judge Mark Covin and what's next? Go into the nursing homes passing out court orders to the elderly & disabled? How about doing it at the hospital too and in ICU?

Judge Coven refuses to do his job. He denies every motion without review and refuses to make rulings. "Why should I act as the middle man?" Basically, because it is what your job entails, that's why. Just do your job.

Completely unable to be fair. Runs the court like hes the king of this own little fiefdom. Engages in tactics to get the defendant to plea in large swaths of cases. Basically a prosecutor in a robe

He victimized me by lowering the restitution of a defendant by 50% without having the decency of having the victim make a verbal response or by not having the victim at the restitution hearing. You call that justice ?

It's been several years since I have been before Judge Coven, but he has always stood out in my mind as one of the best judges in the Commonwealth - and I have been in many courts throughout the state. He is fair, insightful, open minded, and compassionate yet firm. He is truly an excellent judge.

Never knew a chief justice can be so caring and giving.
In addition to all the cases he hears every day not to mention his wife and family that need his times as well it is tearfully touching to know that this chief justice also spends much time in the downtown Quincy area at the soup kitchen and homeless shelter as well.
Judge Coven is over qualified for his position. For this judge to spend time developing a plan that would improve our judicial system clearly is the reason why I feel he would better serve us as GOVERNOR of Massachusetts.
Judge Coven said that he became a judge so that he could help people just as he did when he was a lawyer. I truly feel that when you have an arrogant, egotistical and one who appears to be ignorant of our legal system who can totally disrespect this honorable judge by referring to him as
"a Poverty lawyer" as J. Edward Pawlick did CLEARLY SHOULD BE DISBARRED and never allowed to practice law again. Working as an attorney for Greater Boston Legal Sevices is a great way to help people who cannot otherwise afford an attorney. If judge Coven is burned out it is because he cares to much for all people both in and out of court. First the president of the United states is referred to as the Food Stamp president and now this honorable judge is referred to as the poverty lawyer by an attorney who in my opinion was too ignorant to see how such a statement could be so offensive not to mention the impact it would have on his character and career.
JUDGE COVEN thank you for being the fairest of ALL JUDGES.

Comments:
As Chief Justice of Quincy Court Judge Coven is a main proponent of the sexist and discriminatory MGL 209A, so-called 'Abuse Prevention', which targets men and fathers and removes them from their homes and children.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comments:
Pushes defendants to accept plea deals rather than proceeding to trial by threatening defendants, whether or not they have a prior record, with a sentence of jail time if convicted after trial. Favors probation officers in surrender hearings and almost always credits their testimony. Attempts to get probationers who owe money to accept jail time in lieu of paying the money because he knows he can't send them to jail for non-payment only.

Excellent judge. I have been before him on both criminal and civil matters. He is insightful and thoughtful; yet, he commands respect. He has compassion, but he is not easily fooled. He listens well and renders fair, well-reasoned and prompt decisions.
