I went to the district court this morning to file for an emergency petition. The petition was for my 16 year old son to be taken to a hospital for his mental state which was detrimental to me as well as himself. He kicked in my door and physically assaulted me. Upon applying for an emergency order as advised by police I was denied and the person that waited on me stated it was denied by Judge Copeland. My son has been in and out of a mental health facility for his behavior several times and as he gets older it’s worse. I do not understand why I was denied. Does this matter have to end up with my son killing me or someone else or himself to get an emergency petition to get him some help.

They would not give me first name or initial of judge who denied the petition, so if it’s not you, please forgive me and could your pass it on to the appropriate judge. Thanking you in advance

This is a well prepared and thoughtful judge. She deliberates carefully and is precise in her statements about her thoughts and expectations. She is fair and well spoken, thorough, and does a great job of explaining things to everyone in the courtroom. She has a very calm demeanor and does not get agitated or ruffled. She speaks her mind and gets right to the heart of things. There should be more judges like Judge Copeland.
