Civil Litigation - Govt.

Comments:
Judge Anderson engages in judicial bias between litigants represented by counsel, and those proceeding pro se. She tends to make adverse rulings more frequently against a pro se litigant than those litigants represened by counsel, and this practice infringes on pro se litigants First Amendement Right to petition the government for grievances. Pro se litigants have a constitutional right to represent themselves however Judge Anderson hold pro se litigants to a higher standard than litiants appearing before her with counsel. This practice should stop and has no place in our judicial system, and the Maryland Commission on Judicial Disabilities should investigate this type of conduct from members of the bench, starting with Judge Anderson, to ensure that pro se litigants are giving the fair shake of the court system as litigants represented by counsel.

Comment #MD8445 is baseless. This shows the blatant disrespect PG County Family Court Judges, Magistrates, Clerks, Social Workers and Lawyers have towards citizens appearing in the courthouse for cases, that a person would be willing to take time to make a baseless comment and give Judge Anderson a rating of 10 to boost her rating scores. People! This is the mentality of the agents operating the Prince George’s County family court system. This is the caliber of judges, magistrates, clerks, social workers and attorneys placed to oversee cases involving the lives of women, children and men. Horrible class of people. Governor Hogan please do not turn a blind eye on what is taking place in the PG COUNTY Family Court. This powers in charge at PG County Family Court are unable to stop the internal misconduct, so that shows it is allowed and their culture. Governor Hogan please take a look at the comments showing real circumstances of children and families that have been scared, damaged and destroyed because of the group of judges and magistrates overseeing their lives at PG County Family Court.

Judge Anderson is an excellent member of the bench. She is smart, hard working and prepared. She has high expectations in her courtroom, as every Judge should. She will listen, and will consider both sides before making a ruling. She can handle very complex cases and has a lot of experience.

I've been in front of her 3 times, with the 3rd time being a continuance (requested by myself because she was so rude and dismissive of my concerns I was ready to unhinge a pew and fling it). The first 2 times, I was very displeased with not just her ruling, but her whole temperament. I was collared by an attorney who informed me I would lose because she favors women in most cases. Returned the final time and presented the same case; she actually let me speak. I was awarded most of my asks. Puzzling, because she shot them down just a month prior.

This judge harbors animosity towards Africans. She is the most horrible judge ever. She lies too. If you are an African appearing before this Judge, please be careful.

I had a case that settled, but while I waited for the second call I had an opportunity to observe how she handled the docket. She is very patient with pro se parties (which is unusual)and very fair. She is very bright. I caught the end of a trial and she did a good job and gave a very well-reasoned ruling. She seems to be doing a good job running the court and has made some good changes.

Lacks basic understanding of contract law and related legal processes; pro-Defendant in many respects related to enforcement of contract rights. Needs to stick to criminal cases.

This judge is a bully. She compensates for her lack of intelligence by berating and attacking attorneys. It's one thing if I'm asking for it-but this was completely uncalled for. I wasn't even making an argument, I just made a simple statement. She said my firm should check itself because it sounds like we have a conflict of interest (without going into detail, this made NO sense). She then told me I needed to help the plaintiff file his suit correctly. I've asked around and my experience is not unique, especially among young women lawyers. This judge is too dumb to debate legal issues with attorneys so she just yells and berates them instead. Hope she enjoys District Court--she will never be elevated.

I have been practicing for over 25 years and Judge Anderson handles herself quite well in the courtroom. I was originally posting on another judge and saw she was ranked low and was shocked. So I clicked on her name. She has a good command of legal issues and the rules. I was in front of her recently for a criminal case. The State's attorney appeared to be new and gave an offer of no jail on a pretty serious case. At sentencing Judge Anderson gave him a significant amount of jail time, which according to his record that was put on the record, jail time was appropriate. I saw the comment about her playing favorites with attorneys she knows. She's a member of the bar, she should know the attorneys before her. As far as any favoritism I would disagree wholeheartedly. She appeared to recognize and respect the attorney representing the defendant I just mentioned, and traded pleasantries with him before taking the plea, and still put the guy in jail even though the state didn't request jail time. She is fair, impartial and understands her role as a judge quite well.

Judge Anderson is a perfect example of why prospective judges should pass an intelligence test. Agree with another commenter about her open chumminess with her courtroom clerk, passing of notes, jokes. Plays favorites with lawyers who regularly appear in her courtroom and suck up to her. Struggles with simple legal issues.

I have appeared before her several times in criminal and domestic violence/protective order cases, I agree with the other poster that she has only been on the bench since 2008 so he must be referring to someone else. She seems to be a good judge. She listens to both sides and treats everyone fairly. She has a good handle on the law, and when she's not sure she takes a break to find the right answer. I'm about 60/40 for wins and losses with her and when I've lost I believe she followed the law.

The most irrational and unpredictable judge I have ever been before. All PI attorneys beware, she always reduces medical specials, even if there is no evidence presented that they are unreasonable! In criminal trials and protective order hearings she clearly choses a horse before the trial is over. Two other attorneys who work in my office (who are well known and respected) have shared stories with me of their awful experiences in front of her. She has absolutely no business being on the bench... And by the way, I have been before her several times and she has never ruled against me. So I feel I can give an unbiased opinion

To the author of the comment below, she was appointed to the bench in September 2008. She hasn't been on the bench for "more than a decade." Perhaps you are thinking of someone else.

I have been in this business a long time. I often wonder: how can one judge be so bad for so long? More than a decade on the bench, and she has not improved one bit. I remember when she first joined the bench. It's obvious she could not have made it as a private practitioner. Two of the best qualities for a judge are knowledge of the law and good judicial temperament. She has neither. She is impertinent, rude, impatient and clueless. I wish we had a way to vote to remove judges

Rude, sends notes back and forth to her court reporters laughing, joking with them, takes person calls during hearings, not very professional at all wants to hurry up and not take the time to listen to all the evidence.
