This judge is a racist. He never gave a prisoner a break when we tried over and over again. Of course the defendant was white. He fried him to the max and never once gave him a break. All the while I sat in his court room and watched him release every black defendent without question. Black racism is very much alive and vindictive.

Judge Cox is a gentleman who belongs on the bench. Period. He is decent, polite, and always tries to get his rulings right. He doesn't like game-playing and bamboozling arguments. Just be straight with him and you'll be very happy.

I'm a sole practitoner from an outlying county; and I only appeared once before Judge Cox. Three civil defendants, represented by separate high-powered law firms, had all filed motions for summary judgment. Despite defendants' multiple arguments ranging from statute of limitations to the recovery of emotional distess damages), Judge Cox had the backbone and foresight to rule that every single issue raised by the defendants were actually disputed questions of fact for the jury to decide.

Comments:
Judge Cox has common sense and a good temperament. I find him personally likeable and think he maintains appropriate control within the court room. However, he clearly does not do his homework regarding pre-trial motions and makes obvious mistakes on the law. Further, he is unwilling to correct his mistakes after counsel gives him the appropriate authority showing him why his decision is clearly wrong. He comes from a criminal law background and probably is a better criminal law judge than he is a civil litigation judge.
