My experience with this judge has been very poor. This was a divorce case. An attorney withdrew just days prior to trial, Judge Sauter refused to allow time for which to retain another attorney. This is customary (Outlined in the Michigan Circuit Court Benchbook). This left one side unrepresented (even though an attorney could be retained within the following week. Judge Sauter then ignored guidelines, MCL, and Caselaw by dividing assets 94%/6%. The overall overwhelming impression among several others in addition to myself, is that Judge Sauter quickly chooses his favorite good guy and labels the other the bad guy. His decisions follow good/bad guy setup (Family court is based equity, NOT good/bad guy). Judge Sauter abused his discretion, ignored the law, and focused his judgement on hurting the party who he viewed as bad, and enriching who he viewed as good. He made no effort to settle the matter fairly, legally, or with any 'common sense' Avoid Judge Sauter. And, use your vote to remove him, and to prevent his ability to harm another person, or family.
