He doesn't recuse himself from a case when there is obvious bias and collusion.

Rating:5.0
Comments:
He comes across as smug, and certainly fails to treat defendants as innocent until proven guilty. He fails to show respect to the negotiation process between the defense attorney and the prosecutor, forcing the defense attorney to negotiate with the prosecutor to get a fair deal, then negotiate with the judge to get him to go along with the deal. He seems to be concerned most about getting the county its money, never granting signature bonds and rarely granting bonds lower than $1,000 even for the poorest of clients. The longer you sit in jail, the more likely you are to plead guilty -- even if you shouldn't -- and the higher your charge for room and board. He's very likable to the average citizen and usually explains his reasoning, which is nice for an attorney who needs to explain his decision to her clients.

Very Fair to both sides. Good temperament. A vast improvement over most KC Judges.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: MO146
Rating:1.4
Comments:
would not listen to reason and was worried about what he would look like if he were to give the defendant another chance and even said as much. Did not have compassion nor seems to have the ability. Unfair judgement without any consideration from the defendants lawyer.
