Marcella Matos Wilson is one of the most vile human beings I’ve ever had the displeasure of being exposed to. She watched as my partner was bankrupted and abused by an expert manipulator with money. She is lazy, disorganized and will often times not remember what you’re even talking about. Ask one of these loser Essex judges about their “work load” of 500+ cases! I don’t remember that being something a tax paying citizen should ever have to worry about. [Redacted by Ed.] Be wary. If you have the opportunity, move from your county and request a venue change BEFORE YOUR PLENARY HEARING (a convenient detail they leave out until it’s too late!). It’s the only way you’ll even potentially see justice.

i would rate this judge as a fair judge. she is the first judge in the 6 judges assigned to my divorce, that is actually unbiased by the fact that my ex is of counselat a mega global firm. she actually realizes what a piece of work he is and doesn't buy into his bs.

[Redacted] I think I know more about the law than she does. As all other litigants stated, she is often unprepared and does not read the material that the litigants have prepared for the court case. Definitely biased against women! So biased. Been in front of her several times and her eyes just seethe jealousy! Sorry that you are stuck in this job, or rather we are stuck with you but if you hate it so much, retire! If you get assigned to her court, do everything and anything to get out!!

In my opinion, Judge Marcella Useless Wilson is an example of the judiciary gone awry. She is likely responsible, in large part, for the horrible reputation of NJ courts in general and Essex county in particular. She hides her obvious lack of intellect and knowledge of the law behind ego and her constant lamentations about being overworked. Does she really not realize that her workload is no different than that of her colleagues - and that the difference...the reason she cannot keep up as well as they is that she is an abject moron? I wonder. Her pandering to larger law firm where she hopes to hang her post-retirement-mediation-shingle is blatant. So beware. Can someone please bring Judge Harris out of retirement? Please.

She has been my judge for the past few years and she is terrible with time, decision making, and lazy. She refused to read our documents and always takes the easiest way out. She really does not care one way or other.

She sides with rich parties. She favors forceful attorney behavior over facts because she’s incapable of comprehending what has been written. And doesn’t take the time to read. She did not resolve detailed financial issues but kicked them down the road. We were not impressed and completely are disappointed. We are currently considering an appeal.

Judge Marcella Matos Wilson is the most inept and partial judge I have ever been in front of....I have experience with many in Essex county family court division.

Hon Matos-Wilson typically does not read the filings. So you better hope she has a talented law clerk. If she does read, she is unlikely to fully comprehend what is written. Logic? Forget it. Law? Nope. Common sense? None. Impartial? Depends on which attorneys are in front of her. She masks her blatant incompetence by not letting one speak.

She is an odd choice for a judge, because she is incapable of making decisions (let alone rational ones). She does not understand financial issues and will punt on all custody issues...and most other issues.

Her judiciary method appears to be kicking the can down the road until one party (or both) are out of money. She makes an early determination (based on nothing, because again, she is ignorant on financial matters), as to who is "wealthier" and then tries to bankrupt that person into a settlement.

As a political appointee, I fully intend to personally fund a campaign of political contributions and possibly a PR campaign to have her removed from the bench. I hope some of you will join me. Stay tuned.

She stripped me of my parental rights.My ex wife put domestic violence on me after refusing to let me talk to my son.I cursed my ex wife off and she used it but it was ok for my ex wife to ask me did I quit my job because her child support didn't show but it was a computer error.My check gets garnish so she shouldn't ask me anything.Mattos hit me with terroristic threat for cursing my wife off and harassment for asking to speak to my son.We had joint custody and to top it off I had to go to domestic violence classes.The best was watching the judge walk towards me at the elevator then run back in the courtroom like I was going to beat her up.Her or my ex wife is not even worth bothering with.I wasn't a violent person before but I'm sick and tired.I pay 630 in child support and I'm part time.She makes over 50,000 a year,she's white I'm black.I haven't seen my son since he was 5 he's now 13.Mattos messed my life up.

She is a nasty person. Definitely sides with the male. Was in court because ex did not pay his share of bills. Submitted to court a very detailed accounting of bills due. I agree, do not think she ever looked at case materials. Ex claims he paid, I said no he did not. Any smart individual would say, Show me a cancelled check. Nope, she decided I should submit all the information to a forensic accountant and let them decide. What? He was not disputing the bills, just lying about paying them. So now I need to go spend almost one grand for some third party to review this? Besides being a terrible judge, she is just not a nice person. People are in the court system because they need an impartial person to help settle something. Sadly she is not impartial. I think she is worse than Kessler.

Litigants beware- I wish that I had access to this website BEFORE my case. I was warned that she did not like WOMEN- she hates Female litigants and she will do whatever is necessary to cause the female to spend excessive amounts of money in order to surrender to opposing counsel who she has favors with.
RUN out of Court- This Women uses her Power like a club, you can't SPEAK in her courtroom. I've often asked myself-" How can mean, hateful people prosper"??when they know there inflicting PAIN & the financial scars stay with you years later. She will blatantly say in court: if you 2 DON'T settle, I'm going to award anything to one of you.
Let's Pray what goes around, comes around. The best advise: PRAY & realize going in that she will beat you down, intimidate & try to drain your bank account. Please PROTECT URSELF-keep Praying even in court. She is the Devil

If i could give a rating lower than 1 I would. This judge is incompetent as it gets. She does not read the paperwork, and punts cases off her desk so she doesn't have to deal with it. Motions cost people thousands of dollars and this women doesn't even read the paperwork, or consider anything it. She simply looks at the divorce agreement and bases all her decisions off that. Doesn't read, or take anything into context. Shes messing with peoples lives and should not be in this position of power. I wish i knew how to go over her head and report her.

This judge is lazy, and ridiculous. She doesnt read the paperwork, has no clue whats happening. Is always late, and pushes you aside as if you mean nothing. This woman never even read the paperwork until the night before, then dismissed the case without notice, or verbal argument, and if she had read the paperwork, she would have seen she already ruled on some of the case previously, and the litigants were asking her to enforce an order she already ruled on. Instead she forced them to mediation costing them thousands of $'s for no reason, only to have to resubmit the exact same thing over again at twice the cost. She has no respect for peoples lives, and what her actions have on people. She should not be in this line of work at all. ESPECIALLY in Essex.

Judge Marcella is a terrible judge and has anger management issues. She does not apply family law properly and is definitely not an objective judge. She is obviously in it for the benefits and she cant find available employment for herself elsewhere....she is a bully in court with biase from the getgo. There is an injustice festering in the Essex County court system as well as in the State of New Jersey. Time for some judge Wilson and others to move on out. Let real judges govern the courts. No sympathy for the wronged party. How come Essex County can't get a fair judge. If these judges hate their jobs so much, leave!

This Judge is grossly incompetent. She doesn't prepare, she doesn't read her cases. She covers up her incompetence by bullying lawyers and litigants. She spents most of her time shouting, screaming and intimidating litigants because she needs to cover up her incompetence. She asks questions that clearly reflect she knows nothing about her cases. She's unstable. Clearly one of the most incompetent judges in the county. Hopefully if enough people petition their state legislators and write formal complaints she can be removed. The problem is these appointments are political appointments.Don't even bother hiring a lawyer. A lawyer won't help you.Clearly one of the worst judges I have seen in 41 years. It is sad. The only one more incompetent than her is Judge Kessler. The American Judicial system is truly in need of a complete over haul. It is a total sham. If you have to appear before this judge be prepared for her to know nothing about your case to deny you due process and to spent most of her time shouting screaming and intimidating people who are basically doing nothing but waiting to be heard she terrorizes litigants because she really isn't capable of trying a case. Expect the worst possible out come. Whatever the lowest bar is for human being, lower it ten tmes. I truly feel deeply sorry for anyone who has the misfortune of appearing before judge matos-wilson she's beyond really bad. There are no words to describe how bad she really is.RGkM

This Judge is extremely bad and should NOT be judging anyone. Bad attitude, From the minute she walked in I knew I was in trouble just from the look she gave me before she even sat on her chair. Perfect example of Judicial misconduct, prejudice, perfect example of abuse of power, hateful and she will make sure you are totally destroyed financially to the best way possible. She said that I should close my 401K just to pay for the excessive awards to the defendant and was the only judge that awarded legal fees against me of $7,220.00 on top of refusing to force the defendant to return my most valuable personal items including my Military records. Because or her ruling I now have to pay 90% of my monthly income to pay to the defendant and her attorney who lied in court. She did everything to put me, my family and my child in the street turning us into homelessness. Judges like her should be in prison, NOT judging cases and people.

She is the most unfair Judge and sides
with the plaintiff on everything. Very
mean to the defendant and cont-sending.
The plaintiff & his attorney very late at 2 of the
hearings and nothing was done to them,
plus the plaintiff didn't show up most
the time and nothing was ever done to him either.
I think she's on a power trip against
women, because she's one she tries to
make the male plaintiff the victim.
She never listens to the facts and just
decides to draw her own conclusion.
Because of her I'm going to have to live on the streets while my bum of an
ex gets all my money that I worked 2 jobs very hard to support myself & him
for almost 20 years and this is the
thanks I get at 64 yrs old.
