Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NJ4591
Rating:2.0
Comments:
Judge Vanek lacks the skill and intellect to be a judge. She does not pay attention to briefs and enters orders with mistakes that need further motion practice to be corrected. Does not have the interest or skill to move cases. Truly one of the worst judges.

Correction: Judge Vanek took more than two months to decide two discovery motions.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NJ4361
Rating:1.3
Comments:
Judge Vanek took more than 2 motions to decide two straightforward and simple discovery motions. Scheduled oral argument eventually without ever informing the parties that both motions would be addressed. Then during oral argument punished plaintiffs' counsel without ever holding defense counsel, from a large, well known Hudson County law firm, to account for multiple violations of federal law and state court rules. Even made threat of referring plaintiffs' counsel to ethics committee again without ever acknowledging the violations of federal and state law committed by defense counsel, instead placing the burden on plaintiffs' counsel for the defendant's own unethical, unlawful actions. Also found out that at least one county judge is from the same well known law firm as the defense attorney, among other questionable connections between defense counsel and his firm and Judge Vanek. She was just plain awful. I will try to avoid being in Hudson County courthouse again just to avoid this judge. She is mediocre at best and unethical at worse.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comments:
The Judge had virtually no trial experience and it shows in her performance on the bench. Only took Judgeship for pay upgrade. Makes all Judges look bad and lawyers lose respect for the judiciary.
