Comments:
My first scheduled appearance before him he did not show up to work. Constantly late. His personal matters take precedence. Disregards violation petitions. Ignores evidence. You never know which Judge Aaron will appear before you, one day he seems calm, the next yelling as if he were scolding school children in a very unprofessional manner. Best interests of child-not of interest!.

Judge Aaron has a long reputation of his decisions being formulated on the sole basis of Laziness and politics. I was before judge Aaron several times and he is more concerned of his best interest's of not doing work rather than the children's best interest. Otherwise he my not understand family law. One time I was to appear before him and he didn't even show up to work and they sent everyone home who was waiting hours to see him. This man should retire and stop running children's lives and families.

As a Pro Se Defendant, I found Judge Aaron to be very fair and unimposing. He respected that I chose to represent myself, and made sure that I understood what was going on and what my rights were. The extra few moments that he took to do so, seemed to annoy the opposing lawyer (whom he has had in his courtroom on many occasions), and he actually shot her a frown and a disapproving nod. That alone shows his respect for the law and the litigants that stand before him. His concern for the kids in the equations is evident.

Interestingly enough, I saw him the following morning at a restaurant I was working in and I approached him, and we spoke for a few moments. Found him to be a very nice guy in such an informal setting.
A great example of how someone of authority can garner respect without instilling fear.

Comments:
I have now appeared pro se before Judge Aaron on several occasions. Even though I won a reversal of a visitation ruling in his court based primarily on judicial error, he is in my opinion a very competent and even-handed trial judge. He is a former high school counselor and has not become jaded by all the angst of family cases. His level of legal scholarship regarding the NYFCA and CPLR is not as high as some judges, but he has genuine concern for most litigants and the welfare of children. Most parents could do much worse than Judge Aaron.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comments:
Judge Merik Aaron is racially biased and causes children and families to suffer. He sits in the court room rolling his eyes and dismissing key evidence at the cost of the working family. It is obvious that he is prejudiced.

Comments:
Judge Merik Aaron is inconsistent, sloppy, politically influenced and disregards the law and his responsibility as a judicial officer. As a result, children suffer, families suffer and he causes them detrimental harm. He should not be a judge.
