There's a reason this judge is no longer on the bench & the bar is better for it. Judge's shouldn't represent litigants from the bench. Not missed.

Excellent all around judge that is fair and kind applying the law accordingly to the case at hand. Couldn't ask for a better judge

Regulars in District Court never had it better with this Judge, and they will miss him tremendously now he is off the bench. No one was fairer, no one was smarter, no one cared about justice more than him. Yes, he sometimes marched to the beat of his own drummer, but you knew what he believed in, he was consistent, respectful, and always tried to do the right thing. Cannot ask for more than that of a Judge.

Comments:
My adversary in a civil matter spent a lot more time in District Court than me, and no matter what this attorney did (show up/not show up, obey/not obey Orders, etc.), he could do no wrong in this Judge's eyes. I never saw such an uneven dispensing of "justice." Suffice it to say that I felt like I did when I went traveled to court in Texas years ago. His failure to be re-elected is a step in the right direction.

This judge is beyond fair and compassionate.

Comments:
Judge Ciaffa is smart, patient, and considerate. He treats lawyers and litigants with respect.

In debtor-creditor matters, he makes sure that litigants are aware of their rights, and he insists that debt lawyers follow the law.

Lawyers who come to court prepared, and who know the rules of evidence, do very well before him.

Lawyers who try to take short cuts, or who try to take advantage of a litigant's ignorance, invariably get no help from this Judge.

Comments:
This Judge is extremely biased again attorneys who represent creditors. He goes out his way to hurt them. He interprets the law as he wants to see it, without any basis in fact. He disregards prior custom, practice and precedence. It is unfortunate that individuals with this inclination seek to punich attorneys who are simpy representing the rights of their clients.
