This "judge" is a real putz. All show and no brains. Avoid his "courtroom"at all costs. Thinks he is a Seinfeld character. A Hofstra grd, #100 in USNWR ranking 2019.

He is the worst judge. Biased not impartial and interested only in his own self advancement. Shame on him for trying to be involved in family court and ruining children’s lives. He will never know the damage he caused. He should NEVER have been awarded a judgeship.

Result oriented He does what he thinks is the correct law and then attempts to justify it with applicable law that does not exist Then berates the attorney for citing accurate law, calling on an attorney in the audience for support and agreement.

Seems to handle disputes with a realistic perspective unlike some of the elitists on the bench.

Not bright. In a complex sense on matters of case. Judge is not attentive to what is being stated by non attorney. I don't really think he reads clearly matters presented before him.Big injustice.Favors attorney and third parties not in contract to influence a case. Not a free thinker in the least.Impatient with litigant. Racial Profiler of black males in court.

Simply one of the best managing judges to sit on the bench in New York County and now the Bronx. Extremely capable, fair and willing to give every client, plaintiff or defendant, their day in court. Hardworking as hell too. And he has his moments too, like everyone, he is human and imperfect, but he raises the bar for sure.

"At the end of the day the bottom line is" that Judge Silver has permitted his status to eclipse his sensibilities and scholarship as a judge.

That's right. "At the end of the day the bottom line is" that Judge Silver has it all figured out so he doesn't need to listen or understand. His stock catchphrase will do the heavy lifting.

"The bottom line is that" every day in his courtroom is a taping of the Judge Silver show. He conducts himself like a late night comedian and uses the bench as a pulpit to regurgitate a demeaning brand of humor that only he can understand. His clerks and officers stand around and smirk at his jokes, no doubt out of fear and compulsion.

Chances are, regardless of the dispute, Silver will pontificate about how stupid an attorney is for doing ... well, for doing anything. If you bother to engage in motion practice, it is evident that you are wasting Silver's time.

"At the end of the day the bottom line is" that Judge Silver is not concerned with the merits of things; he is concerned primarily with dispensing quips and zingers and patting himself on the back for being clever. Unfortunately, it appears that he is here to stay.

Perhaps, "at the end of the day", if we are lucky, he may yet find himself immortalized as a character in a play or novel about the absurdities of the American legal system.

Comments:
Silver has no business being New York Supreme's Supervising Judge, since he refused to take appropriate corrective action upon being informed Judge Nancy Bannon engaged in flagrant misconduct in April of 2017 in violation of the New York Supreme Court's own rules pertaining to adjournments. Instead, he made a baseless determination that though Judge Bannon violated the court's rules, she substantially complied with them in regards to how adjournments may be requested.

Judge Silver is an honest, caring, and no
Nonsense jurist. Having been in private practice and presided over huge cases, he has dealt evenly with the large egos that enter his courtroom each day with grace and class. He knows the true value of a case. Period. New York bar should be grateful to have him there.

ve known George Silver since before he became a Judge when he was an attorney running around in the trenches of the Courthouse like the rest of us. So when he became a Judge I was very happy to see a practicing attorney who was grounded and down to earth was actually appointed to the bench. However, seeing him recently and being before him I am shocked at his unprofessional behavior and personal attacks on attorneys that have nothing to do with the case that is before him. For example, very recently I witnesses him screaming at another attorney for this attorney's unacceptable body language. Not once did I hear Judge Silver discuss the actual case before him. That entire day it appeared he was in a bad mood and was determined to take it out on the attorneys in the Courtroom. This is not the George Silver I knew so many years ago.

Judge George Silver is easily one of the most capable judges in the Supreme Court. He is very bright, efficient and personable. He can get tough with lawyers who are not prepared, and rightly so. Judge Silver gets actively involved with settlement negotiations and does what most judges do not do,... he gets cases settled. Completely fair minded and even handed.

I must say that I am dumbfounded by the prior comments of this judge. Judge Silver initially comes across as personable, friendly and tries hard to seem funny and witty. However, after appearing before him several times over the years, what becomes readily apparent is that this persona masks a highly ineffective, inefficient and disinterested judge who is much more concerned about his and counsel's attire than he is about being an effective judge. Regrettably, Judge Silver is smart enough and charming enough to know how to schmooze with his fellow judges, including the chief administrative judge, in order to insulate his incompetence and ineffectiveness from the scrutiny it deserves.

He is with out a doubt, one of those jurists you enjoy appearing before. What you see from Judge Silver is what you get. No hidden agendas, no favorites. Show up on time, know your case, and be reasonable in your demands. You may not get what you want, but you will never get intentionally hurt.
