A superb judge. He works hard, is very smart and doesn't take sides.

Once a fine, "law" judge, now he seems to be too infirm to be effective and fair to all sides. He frequently blows up in an unpredictable way, that turns what should be a routine issue into a tense and very uncomfortable situation (even if you are not on the receiving end). I suspect that the judge is holding on to the bench long enough for the judicial pay raise to pass, at which point one hopes he will retire to the benefit of his fine legacy, and current trial bar. Chief positive: he truly tries to be fair to both plaintiffs and defendants. But, due to his condition and/or temperament, the execution is erratic, uncomfortable, and can produce aberrant results in a trial situation.
