This a real judge!

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY11843
Rating:3.3
Comments:
This man LOVES to hear himself speak. Clearly thinks he is the smartest person in the room, probably the building. Pro-plaintiff bias. Has pre-conceived ideas about what a case is about and doesn't real "get" what the evidence means as it's unfolding. Not the worst judge, but I can't recommend him with high confidence.

I thought he was smart, fair and evenhanded on the two civil cases I tried before him.

Good trial assignment. Overall good demeanor and flexible in scheduling.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: NY7209
Rating:1.5
Comments:
He is biased toward prosecution/State. He is not bright but thinks he is. He refuses to let the defense attorney make an argument assuming he knows what he/she is going to say. And he is usually wrong. He also will interrupt the defense but not the prosecution. He lets that side make all the arguments it wants. He has little to no understanding of the law. He forgets what the case is about and the stage it is in from court appearance to court appearance. He makes stupid analogies that make no sense and talks incessantly delaying the case, wasting time and usually has no real point. If I hear the "Willie Sutton" quote one more time I might scream.

Rating:1.3
Comments:
This judge has a preconceived idea of what is happening with a case, then loves to hear himself talk about it without any clue of the assumptions he is making. Classic case of a judge who abuses his authority by being so conceited, he fails to accept the possibility that there could be something important counsel is trying to say. He treats the defendant's right to a trial as a terrible inconvenience, that defense counsel should remain obsequious while he insults them based on his confused interpretation of the facts and the law.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY6090
Rating:1.2
Comments:
Absolutely awful. Once he chooses a side he will not give the other side a fair hearing and will beat up on that side to coerce a settlement. Not as smart as he thinks he is. Lazy and takes forever to rule. Unfair.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY5579
Rating:6.4
Comments:
On the plus side, Justice Hubert is businesslike and has a well-developed ability to sniff out and reject frivolous arguments. On the minus side, he is a bit slow to render decisions.

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Comment #: NY2998
Rating:1.5
Comments:
Abusive beyond belief, contemptuous of the concept of criminal defense and truly and deeply ignorant of the law.
