Civil Litigation - Private

Rating:4.9
Comments:
My only real gripe with Justice Perry is the unreasonable delay in deciding motions. I noticed another posting here and agree with that sentiment. Cases come to a halt once they are submitted.

Comments:
We have had several motions before this judge. The average decision time for a motion to be decided is 8-9 months. This extreme delay stops a case in its tracks. It is justice delayed. I do not understand how this is tolerated by OCA.

I've known this amazing individual before he became Chair of Community Board 10. Dynamic negotiator, honest and fair.

Comments:
"The Powers that Be" wrongly, but understandably, believe that a black judge will be not biased against minorities, but fair. Unfortunately, Perry goes the other way & he's more disrespectful, to boot.. There is a callouness to him that is startling. In my appearances in his courtroom he has been scarily hostile. He favors the Topdog, rather than the Underdog, who usually are disproportionately "poor" and/or minorities.

Comments:
I'd have to agree with the previous poster. Judge Perry does not read motion papers at all. He is unsure of himself and does not like to make decisions. His evidentiary rulings are pro Defendant/Respondent and are often just wrong. His lack of experience and knowledge means he often sides with the 18B courtroom fixtures over more knowledgeable and experienced attorneys.

Civil Litigation - Private

Rating:5.4
Comments:
This judge does not read motion papers. He makes all his temporary rulings based on arguments of counsel at conferences. I don't know if he is overworked or not, but if he saw the evidence that was filed, he might reach other conclusions. I have also seen no written opinions from him.
