Great judge & temperament. Fair and gracious. He really helped my daughter win as much as she could from a dog bite. All judges should be like Judge Brown.

Hard working, smart, fair. Equally versed in both criminal and civil. I wish they could clone him. We need more judges like Craig Brown.

Judge Brown is an excellent jurist who well represents the New York judiciary. His ADR approach and method in resolving matters is ideal and should serve as a model. Judge Brown's active utilization of ADR and engagement in settlement negotiations is exemplary and well appreciated by the lawyers and litigants who appear before him.

Comments:
Judge Brown helped settle a complex civil matter that was on its fourth Judge since the case was originated more than 5 years ago. The case was always a $250,000 +/- case (although initial claim was $20+ million). The pre-trial settlement finally resolved the case right in the neighborhood where it's always been after courteous but blunt efforts by the Court.

Judge Brown is an outstanding jurist. He treats all parties (litigants and counsel) with the utmost respect, has a firm grasp of the issues, supporting facts and law. Regardless of the decision issued, it is well reasoned and fair.
He is also actively involved in settlement negotiations, to the benefit of all involved parties.

Comments:
Judge Brown is one of the hardest working judges in New York. He is fair to all sides and has a passion for justice. Judge Brown has had a number of published opinions, including decisions involving the recently passed bail reform bill. Judge Brown's decisions have been a common sense approach to the implementation of the bail reform bill. Other judges can look to his decisions in order to adopt his insight and direction on bail reform and how to implement the bill with the most common sense and in a judicially sound way while attempting to ensure public safety.

Judge Brown is always working. Whether he is trying to resolve your case before trial or using the full day to hear as many witnesses as possible, Judge Brown keeps your case moving forward. Despite this, he is still able to work with lawyers on scheduling issues and will not hurt the lawyers with scheduling. The Judge knows his evidence rules and is fair. He listens to both sides of every issue. Good judge to be assigned for a trial.

Handed a complex civil trial fairly, swiftly and without any issues. Spent time discussing problems with the lawyers when they arose so that each party felt that they got a chance to be heard. Evidentiary rulings were consistent and correct. Also was flexible with scheduling issues. Excellent trial judge.

Judge Brown is one of my favorite judges out of over a hundred judges I have appeared before in my 16 year career. He strives to do well and make the right decisions because he appreciates and cares about his position in the criminal justice system. He is extremely intelligent and scholarly. He is always willing to research and learn about new laws or issues in the law. He never hesitates to take on a challenging task or case. He is friendly and personable but also firm and direct; a perfectly balanced temperament for a judge. He has a very strong work ethic, and it shows in his ability to handle a high volume of cases and that he is consistently punctual on the bench. If I ever become a judge, I know that his exemplary judgeship will be a high standard that I hope to achieve. His staff is also remarkable and dedicated to their employ, which speaks volumes for the positive atmosphere Judge Brown has created.

Judge Brown and his staff were fantastic to work with. There were numerous scheduling issues with experts for both sides, and the judge accommodated everyone. He did so while still running an extremely busy criminal calendar, and making sure that the jury's time was not being wasted. His rulings were well reasoned and did not favor either side. I do not try many cases in. Orange County, but would be happy to be assigned to Judge Brown's Part for all of them, fully knowing my client will be afforded a fair trial before a fair trial before a judge who understands the law.

Caveal, the jury found that the defendant was 75% responsible for the happening of the incident. My review is not based on the outcome.
I was supposed to be on trial before a different Judge, who was tied up with a trial. My client's matter was transferred to Judge Brown, and it was the best draw I could ask for. He is hard working, smart, and pleasant to work with. A trifecta for any trial attorney. I look forward to my next trial befor him.

Even though Judge Brown has only been on the bench for a little over a year, a recently retired judge who appeared in his court said he should be teaching other judges on courtroom demeanor. He listens to both sides and considers all arguments before making a decision. He recognizes that there are victim's rights, but he is also fair to the defendants who appear before him. He even acknowledges the people who come to watch the cases in his court-letting them know that it is an open court and they are always welcome to watch. Judge Brown is an asset to Orange County and the court that he presides over.
