Justice Collins is clearly the best judge sitting on the Suffolk County bench as I sit here today. There will be a horrible void left behind when he leaves the matrimonial part for Criminal Court -- where he belongs. Though it was hard in the beginning, he earned my complete and total respect. If there ever was someone deserving of the term of address "Your Honor," he is that person. I may have been thrown some tests along the way, but I believe that I did pass them, and that I am one of the few who he respects. A man of honor, dignity, and courage, I bow down to him in utter humility and respect. I will miss this judge. He cleaned up the messy matrimonial part. His methods were fast and fair. His law clerk learned mat law so fast we did P.C.'s at the bench, which every judge should be doing -- it's a brilliant idea. With his principal law clerk by his side, he gave you the plain truth, like it or not. If you messed up -- he told you.
