A mean and indifferent judge. Lacks professionalism and civility and makes no effort to effectively resolve disputes.

I too have suffered from dealing with this court. My case has been going on for eleven years. Judge Reilly has refused to hear my case and has forced me into a never ending arbitration. This time with the ex-judge Radigan, an 88 year old ex-judge that can't remember what side is offering which deal. It is a nightmare. It involves the estate of a decised mother who owned two houses. My client is in one and his sister in another. Her house is a legal three family. His sister has taken over $400,000 in rent and the court ordered her to put the money in an estate account. Instead, his sister has deposited this money for eleven years in her personal account. The judge does nothing to stop it. Grand theft and Judge Reilly sits back and watches. Does that make the judge an accomplice to grand larceny?

Reilly does nothing to assist. She sits back and lets federal and state crimes occur. You will suffer from her neglect. There is no justice in this court. It's like living in Russia. Stay away from this court. File a civil lawsuit instead.

The case sat in Nassau County Surrogate's Court for six years. I was denied a Hearing, and Judge Reilly denied my Motion to Dismiss, without looking at the evidence. I have to give her a zero rating, she was MIA as far as anything relating to justice goes, the transcripts from my deposition were riddled with errors, to the point of being slanderous. She has only added to my hardship. I wonder if the term Misprision, when I report evidence of a crime to a government official, and that government official does nothing to address the issue, does that government official become an accessory to the crime?

I have been waiting 8 years for this judge to do something in the case I brought to the court. Over $100,000. has been spent on lawyers for both sides. The request was for a full accounting of the estate, to date 8 years later, no accounting with backup. The judge has not made a ruling yet in the case. It has been on hold for two years due to covid and request to get it on the calendar are ignored. She is taking on new cases, but the old ones have been forgotten. I think she is hoping that we both give up! All this for an accounting of the estate, it’s mind blowing.

When a properly executed will takes 2 years to pass through her court- something is seriously wrong. I hope no one in my family or I ever need to be under this failure’s rule ever again. And reading the awful ratings during the protracted mess added to the stress .

Judge Margaret Reilly clearly did not read a deposition in which the deponent testified at length as to the powerful undue influence a decedent's sons used on him. The deponent was another key person in the decedent's life. Judge Riley ruled that there was "no undue influence". She should be removed.

Comments:
As others have observed, she is arrogant and lazy. Will look for any reason to avoid issuing a decision. The departments under her in the Surrogate's Court are completely unresponsive and you have to raise hell just to get them to lift a finger. Counting down the days until she is out as Surrogate.

The ignorance, arrogance and prejudice of this judge is appalling. She is unfit to be a judge or an attorney. I understand she got her position because her father was a crooked politician and it was pure nepotism. There is no way she got where she is based on merits. She is better qualified to be a hotel maid. This judge should be impeached or have formal proceedings against her. She is a true disgrace.

Judge Margaret C. Reilly mocked a disabled child and downplayed their disability and took away money that was meant for the child. Truly shameful.

This Judge, now the surrogate, is a horror show who approaches the administration of justice with equal parts of arrogance, indifference and hostility.

Shockingly ill-mannered, ill-tempered, racist and sexist in her treatment of attorneys and litigants. She was that way in district court, supreme court and now in appellate court. Unqualified to be a judge.
