Litigant

Comments:
This Judge was the worst yet and this is what the city hires without checking their performance and keeping them in check. Even when you present evidence in front of this guy he makes up his own mind anyway. Can you only imagine what he is like as an attorney, I say never hire him. There is nothing that was honorable about this so called judge.

Comments:
Yet another judge that abuses the system with no regard for the law. He is a rude individual. I went before Judge Cruz in small claims court. I proved that I was owed $3,000 through several emails from the client, not only agreeing to the fee but thanking me for such a good price as well, in addition to emails from the client acknowledging that the work had been done. The client even contradicted his position by saying that he had everything. When Judge Cruz reviewed the emails, he commented: "wow, you did a lot of work." With all of the undisputed evidence presented, he did not find in my favor. I did, however, win the case on appeal. In their decision, they stated that it was undisputed that services were rendered and that I was owed the money.

Comments:
This Judge takes the bench after 10 am on most days and only works until lunch. Motions are never read or taken on submission. Decisions are based on off the record discussions with the law assistant. He never handles trial in the afternoon and has a policy of not doing any trials on Fridays. If OCA wants to look into how judges abuse the system they can begin with Judge Cruz.

Comments:
Judge Cruz is a no-nonsense judge, steeped in the law. Always gracious, never rude, he treats litigants with respect. His court attorney encourages resolution of all matters whenever possible and is highly effective.

Rating:2.1
Comments:
Civil judges cry over their salaries. This judge comes to work late, takes Fridays off and refuses to conduct trials after 12 noon. This judge is self-absorbed and is a prime example of the "activist jurist."
