Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY5208
Rating:8.7
Comments:
Among her many excellent judicial qualities, her foremost is an excellent disposition on the bench -- in confidently commanding and exuding control over the courtroom, without ever demeaning the counsels. That is a rare find in the system. Jurors like her, too. If you are a competent attorney, you will find that it is easy to show her the respect that she deserves -- and, in the end, be delivered a well-considered ruling.

Comments:
Genine Edwards is a weak judge made even more unpalatable with a nasty and discourteous disposition.

She's not that smart (even by nys state judiciary standards) and appears to be yet another political hack appointed to the bench by that great evaluator of judicial talent (Vito Lopez).

Yet another sad example of why the quality of our state judiciary is so low.

When a judge adopts a policy that she does not entertain applications for adjournment - for any reason - that is by definition a bad judge. That is called "abuse of discretion." There is little more that needs to be said about this judge. Like most of what comes out of Brooklyn, she makes you scratch your head and say, "There has to be a better way."
