The last post was a farce. I know from the facts that the adjournment requests were made by a per Diem attorney, not the trial attorney familiar with the case.
How could an answer be stricken if it was the plaintiff who continually asked for the relief. Also, the judge actually dismissed the plaintiffs case and right fully so. He gave them more adjournment than any other judge would have.
to the person who posted the last comment, bug off. You have no clue. Get your facts straight. You sound like an idiot and make attorneys look stupid. As
for judge Feinman, well ask those who are in court each day and understand the importance of having such a super judge.

I was totally amazed as he belittled a woman who represented a defendant. Plaintiff adjourned depositions six times and he struck the answer of the defendant!!!! He wouldn't allow her to say one word. I believe he knows his stuff but is a bit of a bully. Be there at 9:30, take your coat off and don't schedule any other parts. He will make you sit there. I read some of the glowing posts. Just incredible. Not accurate at all.

I still can't believe the idiotic comments by people who attempt to disguise themselves as attorneys. When you are prepared, punctual, and have a valid cause of action or valid defense -- not one grounded in stupidity -- he is who you want on your case. If you can't be more specific about your situation, then keep your mouth shut. Judge Feinman is a super judge. Be grateful for his dedication.

What honest, critically-thinking person gives someone a 10? Based on my knowledge of him to date and comments from others, I have to concur with the negative comments. Notice that comment about the comments here may be unethical, a typical government get-back-in-line statement -- i.e. if I don't like what you have to say, I will punish you. Now free speech is unethical? Who wants to appear before a judge who seeks to punish people? Do your best to avoid this judge.

My comment relates to a statement that the Honorable Judge Feinman made after a civil trial. My husband died from a massive heart attack. I did not want my children subjected to the details of the trial, but on the last day my daughter insisted that she wanted to be there. After the verdict was read, and the jurors were dismissed, my lawyer, my daughter and I were still present in the courtroom when Judge Feinman joked that he thought he'd have a heart attack. It was neither funny nor in good taste.

Any positive comments about this judge are fabricated. I ran into an ex-D.A. yesterday who hasn't been before him in years and still remembers how evil he is and how he enjoys bullying (like every comment here says except the ones by the judge himself, or his mom). So, strike the positive comments and Judge Feinman is a 0. Always was, always will be.

I've been doing this for quite a while (30 years), and have tried a fair amount of cases to verdict (35-40). I have very few cases in Nassau County, and I had only one prior case with this judge, which settled amicably before openings. What I appreciate about Judge Feinman is that he was a bona fide trial attorney. He understood the rules of evidence, motions in limine, and the proper operation of a courtroom. When he made a ruling -- and some were not to my liking -- he did so consistently, and I thought fairly. I was happy with the result, and I would willingly appear before him again. Show up on time, know what you are doing and don't B.S. him.

Not so industrious on pre-trial matters, but on trial he is a clear, firm, and predictable trial judge. Exceedingly prompt on trial and demands a respectful atmosphere in the courtroom.

It's strange to see how the opinions swing pretty wildly regarding Judge Feinman. I suspect that his friends are posting the positive reviews. I've been before him 4 or 5 times in the past. He does not give counsel benefit of the doubt; he dives into the conclusion that you are disrespecting him, or totally unprepared, or an idiot. I'm sure he has seen a lot of bad lawyering, which is the ugly part of being a judge. But he unfairly assumes that everyone is either an idiot or disrespectful, unless counsel proves otherwise. It's just not pleasant to be greeted in the courtroom by that sour attitude. (He is also very short.)

I have appeared before this judge many times both for conferences, one jury trial to verdict and one other seven figure case that he was able to settle just prior to the jury selection which was to take place in his courtroom.

This judge is a hard wroking no "BS" type of man. Don't try to snow him with excuses that have been around for years. He is savy and experienced and can see through it all in a nano second.

If you are prepared and respectful as all lawyers should be when appearing in front of any judge, your litigation will be quick and your rulings will be on the money. If you want to take him on in a confrontation, you will not be happy with the outcome. However, he will always listen to what you have to say before making a decision on the matter at hand.

When you come to his court, take your coat off and take whatever it is your chewing on out of your mouth, no different than if you were going to the Apelelate Division where all that is mandatory. Other than this, you can expect he has no other pet peeves and you can expect a good experience. One other thing, be prompt. He takes the bech at 9:30 SHARP.

Without question, this is the finest judge currently on the bench in terms of ability to settle complex cases, deal with inflated egos and reduce complex matters to their simplest forms. I have never, in 30 years of practice, seen a more hard-working, no nonsense, industrious judge as Judge Feinman. Be advised, he does not tolerate tardiness or persons not fully prepared. If you bring your "A-game", you will be very pleased with this judge. To all the nay-sayers, I am not related to Judge Feinman, nor am I a friend of his. This is from a well-seasoned trial attorney who has been before some of the maniacs on the bench. Take it from me, those with negative comments on this site have their own agenda and/or have never practiced before a horrible judge.

Despite the negative reviews posted about this judge, which I feel is probably in violation of the Cannon of Ethics, my client and I found him to be excellently suited for a Wrongful Death case with complex issues. We in fact feel very fortunate to have had this judge who was selected based on his ability to handle such complex litigation. He was equally tough on both sides and he knew the Appellate Department and Court of Appeals cases which were applicable to our case. I found his demeanor and competence level to be the same as I encounter in Federal Courts. He demands punctuality, and preparedness and familiarity with his posted courtroom rules. By the way, I am NOT his mother. I am simply someone who respects this judge for what he does and the standards for which he holds himself and others; standards which are fair and reasonable.

First time I appeared before this short man, he was short to everybody. When counsel went up with his adversary for calendar call, Feinman told him that he'll call his case last. Why? Feinman said it's because counsel was wearing his overcoat and he'll give him enough time to take it off. The rest of the calendar sounded like he was trying to poke fun at counsel for no reason. I've been before stern judges, but not petty, bored, and nasty judge like Feinman. He embarasses the position.

Feinman and his obvious incompetent ass are irrelevant. It is the process that follows in appealing the like of Feinman that puts such a major stain on the judiciary. His immediate family is clearly beyond exhaustion in praising him here. However, it is the undeniable "black robe of silence" that protects his ilk that is the real villain here.

Does it not strike you as odd, Dear Reader, that the comments on Judge Feinman are extremes only: either he is a top Nassau County judge or is among the worst. Maybe there is someone impersonating him. This should be looked into. Otherwise, you may wish to assume the worst and draw your own conclusions after your encounter...or should I say confrontation?

I am neither affiliated with Judge Feinman, nor have ever tried a case in front of him. My comments are based upon my knowledge of his reputation amongst trial attorneys at the Courthouse.
He is considered fair and evenhanded, and will work on trying to get your case settled. He is bright and hard working.
He will get upset if you are unprepared; seem indifferent to his prior orders or are inattentive to your responsibilities.
So...be prepared, responsible and care and you will never have a problem with him.

The commentary from the "chicken" who operates from behind the curtain, dated 10/2/11 is obviously the same "chicken" that had commented before. Instead of operating in this secretive and unsubstantiated manner, why doesn't "it" crawl out from under the rock and have the decency to privately discuss his issues with the judge? This person seems to have a troubled mind that somehow believes that the rest of us practitioners are influenced by his ramblings. Judge Feinman, whom I have no affiliation with is a person of scholarship, integrity, fairness and judicial temperament. He deserves better than having a coward taking cheap shots at him. A bad decision, jealousy, intellectually inferior-take your pick-but this troubled minded person seems to fit into one of these categories. Maybe if he spent more time perfecting his lawyering instead of inaccurately portraying one of our better jurists, he might overcome some of his own deficiencies.

There are no words to explain what a horrible judge this man is. His Napoleanic complex is transparent, his nastiness unnecessary. Springing from said Napoleanic complex is a mean streak and a need to impress and humiliate. He isn't worthy of a rating above 0. I see his people tried to counter-act the reviews people have written. I assure you, they're either by this egomaniac or by someone that works for him. This Levittown Mondello lackey is the chairman's little chihuahua. They deserve each other.

I am at times embarrassed at the tenor of some of the idiotic comments made by sourpuss lawyers. Feinman is the type of judge that makes you a better lawyer. He knows the law and is a strong willed fair man. He is always prepared. I'm wondering if the lawyers are as prepared to represent their clients in his part. In any event still a super judge. Stop knocking the guy. He's doing his job and following his oath. Both of which he takes seriously.

Judge Feinman exemplifies what a judge should be. He is prompt, decisive, knowledgeable, scholarly, efficient, consistent, street-wize and always a gentleman. We forget that a judge's job is to move cases and to dole out justice in an equitable fashion and not merely to placate attorneys. Those who criticize Judge Feinman anonymously do not have the courage to face him. He is one of the hardest working and and excellent trial judges that we have and he works very hard at settlement. Those who criticize him must have their own agenda. A judge's function is not to please everyone but rather to administer justice fairly. It is too bad that his detractors do not play fairly or play by any set of rules.

As a lawyer that has practiced for over 40 years, it is incomprehensible to me how others will lob personal attacks on a judge. Sadly, we may have reached a new low.
For me, I have always found Judge Feinman prepared, efficient and industrious. He is an excellent settler
and extremely competent trial judge. He insists on lawyers being prepared both at conferences during and trial-really, not too much to ask.
I have found that he will research an issue and permit imput from counsel. Whether one agrees with his rulings or not-there is always a legal basis. Isn't that what we want.
In my opinion, one of our best judges.
Let's stay away from the personal attacks-we should be better than that.

A Napoleanic Judge with a bad demeanor and a bad grasp of the law. His sharp tongue and penchant for "sticking it" to lawyers make him perhaps, the most dangerous and least favorite of all judges countywide. Another dangerous trait. He thinks he's smarter than he is. Arrogant. Small. (in all aspects).

I have had several matters assigned to him for trial, with only one of them going to verdict. Have always found him professional and even handed. He will try hard to get the matter settled. He expects the attorneys to conduct themselves professionally and be well prepared for trial. As long as you are, you will be in a better position if your adversary isn't. I have also seen numerous defense attorneys not knowing when to shut the hell up when they have lost an argument. Overall, a good draw in Nassau for a plaintiff

I found Judge Feinman to be a bright, knowledgeable jurist. He understands evidentiary issues and analyzes objections carefully. He treated all sides fairly and professionally. He rightfully expects attorneys who appear before him to be prepared regarding the procedural and substantive matters of their cases. Prepared attorneys can't be bullied.

Justice Feinman is extraordinarily bright, industrious and will work hard to reach an amicable settlement. He knows his evidence and law better than most. He is always punctual and expects the same courtesy and respect from the bar. He allows the attorneys to try their case and despite some grumbling will not hurt an attorney. Overall, an outstanding jurist.

The last two comments seem like "sour grapes" to me. Constructive criticism is helpful but taking pot shots at a member of our judiciary and on a personal level is cowardly and demeaning to members of the bar. Maybe it is the commentator who lacks the requisite skills to understand the court's decision or fails to adhere to Justice Feinman's attempts to hold our profession to the highest ideals. Cheap shots that are inaccurate and hiding behind a cloak of anonymity belie the "observations" of these 2 cowards.

This is really a helpful opinion -- read it carefully. I'm doing you a favor: Tommy Feinman in a word is "Dangerous". He is not very smart at all. He's rule on rage and ego. Be respectful above all things. He has no legal knowledge. I don't want to give away who I am by giving details (The egomaniac probably looks at this page daily). Suffice it to say, he just wrote a decision that is so horn-book wrong--(yes, I admit, he ruled against me), that I wonder how he ever made it through life, no less practiced law.

Uh, I guess Feinman's mom defended him and added nice comments! Thanks Mrs. Feinman. Is he a bully? He is definitely a bully and likes to push his weight around. He's 5' tall. I've seen him humiliate attorneys and the chesire cat grin he has as he does is is scary. Exemplifies jurists that abuse their power.

He used to like to abuse one criminal attorney with long hair and a big nose that's a fixture in in District Court. I used to look away as he would look to the attorneys in the jury box for approval or to laugh with him at the attorney. The sadistic would do so. I would look away rather than encourage. He cannot be trusted. Watch your back.

A credit to the bench. He is extraordinally knowledgable on the law, is an excellent settler, will try a case if it doesn't settle and treats attorneys fairly. The one warning is BE ON TIME. He is always prompt and expects it from others. If you have a problem with a witness or the law bring it up as soon as possible and he will usually accomodate you. Fortunately or unfortunately he is too bright to BS so treat him with respect and that is the way he will treat you. Wouldn't mind trying all my cases before him.

I frankly don't understand either of the two prior "bullying" opinions by counsel. In my mind it's really quite simple-be on time and be prepared-it's really not too much to ask. His handling on settlement negotiations is outstanding. He grasps the issues and works hard towards a resolution-however, if trial is required, advise him in advance of any legal issues or scheduling problems. He is flexible if he knows the problem in advance, and will give lawyers a full opportunity to be heard. He knows the rules of evidence
so prepare with that in mind.
Jurors seem to like them because he keeps them informed and tends not to waste for their time.
All in all-an excellent jurist
