Content to be ignorant. Proudly proclaims that she has not read any of the motion papers before opining on what she thinks the outcome should be and refusing to listen to any arguments against what she decides the result should be.

Comments:
An absolute bully. An appearance before her has little to do with advancing the litigation process and everything to do with her getting off on abusing one or both of the litigants. She is an abusive personality who really has no business being on the bench. She is rude, arrogant, obnoxious and on a permanent power trip. She is instantly hostile to everyone who appears in front of her and she invites confrontation, often baiting attorneys to engage her in a back and forth so she can scream at them. Children in high school are treated with greater respect and dignity than the grown men and women who appear before Judge Garson. She cultivates the image she presents on the bench to bully people into getting rid of cases one way or the other. OCA should seriously step up and reign this Judge in. She is a disgrace to the profession and an embarrassment to the bench.

There is tryly something wrong with this woman. At a landlord-tenant litigation, she insisted that the landlord had forged the signature on the lease. This was an issue of her own invention and delusion, and then threatened counsel that if he did not settle the case, he would be brought up on discliplinary charges for introducing a forged document into evidence. This woman is rude, obnoxious and has a terrible temperament. It's shocking that she is allowed to be a judge.

It is a shame. She is clearly an intelligent woman but based on my observation of her with several other attorneys in addition to me, she enjoys humiliating people. She made certain comments to me about a rule she thought I did not know but when it turned out that I knew it and she was wrong, she was not interested in hearing the proper answer. Good judges are happy to learn and understand the law, whether they turn out to have been right or wrong. In this case, it was a simple matter that required as a matter of law referral to the judge who signed a prior order that required modification. She refused to refer it to that judge, only to have me to return to court another time so the judge sitting in that part could refer it to the original judge. Profoundly disrespectful of an attorneys time and her rude disposition is awful. The shame is that she actually seems smart enough and to have some good instincts legally to be a good judge if she could corral her own worst enemies.

This Judge is completely out of line. Listened only to Plaintiff, did not allow me to present any evidence printed and ready showing that Plaintiff was outright lying!! I had every proof, she did not allow us to speak only answer her few questions. I was denied my basic rights. This is a travesty of justice!!! Made rude, abnoxious comments about us personally, completely uncalled for. The outcome was clearly pre-determined in her mind, without any consideration for the very straight, clear evidence I had with me proving in writing that the plaintiff was absolutely lying. This Judge is an embarrassment to the justice system and needs to be reported.

I love to appear before Judge Garson. Her bark is worse than her bite. Sure she can be a tad gruff at timess, but if you had to suffer the obnoxious civil litigants of Brooklyn for decades and their arrogant lawyers who think they are God's gift to advocacy, you would be a little unrefined too. She knows the law. She is not afraid to rule. "Appeal me! Step back!" That is how you keep a part moving. She is a credit to her profession. She is on the bench at 9:30AM. She is not a patsy. Be prepared. She is.

Judge Garson is rude and looks to pick fights with attorneys and litigants over the most ridiculous issues. For example, I was briefly reprimanded for looking at my digital calendar to pick an adjourn date for trial. Substantively, she made a knee jerk reaction/decision on a motion after having stated she did not read the motion or opposition and reply papers. This type of conduct goes unabated when there is no record in the Civil Court, Part 52. Administration should install recording devices as there are in the housing parts.

She is a horrid excuse of a human being. She is miserable, angry, insufferable and most certainly not honorable. She dismissed a landlord tenant case, even though the defendant defaulted, because she didn't like the address of the commercial building. Said address was used by the City to fine the defendant multiple times, said address is what's listed on the deed, and said address is the only address in existence for said property; yet Hon. Garson demanded a different address - one that she made up in her head. In turn, she dismissed the entire proceeding. When explained to her that dismissing the proceeding is a financial hardship on the elderly plaintiff, Hon. Garson went off on a tirade screaming that only incarceration is a hardship. She is a disgrace to society and has abused whatever little power she has been given. She is an embarrassment to our legal system and to humanity. I'm not done. Hopefully, there are other venues to report this creature. She should not be in a position to make decisions regarding other people's lives. It's bad enough she's breathing the same air as us.

Miserable, unhappy human being who wants to make sure everyone else is like her. In the midst of a trial she once threatened to report my client to the IRS if he didn't settle -- for conduct that was in a no way a violation of the IRC. In the half dozen or so cases I've had before her she has made no attempt to understand the law. She just decide which attorney she dislikes the least.

Filled with an agenda. Sat in her courtroom for a full morning (I was last). There were nine cases with attorneys vs. pro se litigants, she clobbered every attorney. She barked at the first 8 and dismissed each of their applications before rejecting mine. I have no problem with a judge ruling against me because the law and/or facts are against me. I have a problem losing when the outcome is predetermined before I open my mouth or my papers are reviewed.

This Judge has spunk. She is steeped in the law and is nobody's fool. She is an acquired taste. If you're prepared and have a good case you will receive prompt justice. If you bring her your leftovers, you will be quickly dispatched, doggie-bag in hand.

After posting my PhotoVid documentary on the first same-sex weddings at City Hall a short timeago I recieved this note from her:
Letter head:
Civil Court of the City of New York
141 Livingston Street
Brooklyn New York 11201
Dated: August 11
Dear Dr. Rothstein
Re: July 24, 2011 Video and photo posting [See GayPartnersMarry]
From: Robin S. Garson
Acting Justice, Supreme Court
"While I appreciate the you were moved to capture the events of the day, I must reiterate my request to remove the video segment and still photography of me from the internet sites affiliated with or linked to your web pages. Though the pictures are lovely, it is not appropriate to link a judge performing her official duties to a commercial enterprise. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation."
Cc: Hon. Sylvia O. Hinds-Radix
Administrative Judge for Civil Matters, Second Judicial District
Supreme Court, State of New York
Would somebody please provide an opinion why she would make this request and the possible consequences of refusing. Cordially, Dr. Ted
It's weird because my documentary seems to be the only good press she's getting lately. And why copy Hinds-Radix? Please advise.

She is awful and rude and unprofessional and is out of line in her questioning when simply asked to allow an amended answer two weeks before a pre-trial conference. She refused to allow an amended answer for a pro se client - it was written with the help of an attorney at a major New York law firm. We are going to report her. She is out of line.

This is by far the worst judge I've ever seen on the bench in all my years of practice. She sits on the bench in shorts and sneakers, and she's nasty and miserable to everyone. When you are called to conference a case in front of her, she's too stupid to follow the facts, so she yells at you to "shut up!!" if you address the issues faster than her little brain can compute them. She has no concept of the law, and ALL of her decisions reflect that. It's clearly obvious she does not want to be on the bench, and she is a complete and utter disgrace to the robe and the profession. Shame on her.

This judge is bitter and angry. She doesn't deserve to be on the bench any longer. She treats lawyers and parties poorly. She is scared to conference cases without a court officer present. The City of New York would perform a public service by dumping this nasty, mean-spirited and pompous person. She thinks she's smarter than everyone else.
