Comments:
I miss him. How is it that Judge Hirsch gets the boot, but Andrea Phoenix is still on the bench? Nassau County voters, please wake up and get Judge Hirsh back on the bench.

Hirsh is an excellent judge. Very fair. Just make sure you're respectful and you only speak when spoken to.

Time to retire. As they get old they get bad. They forget who elected them in the first place.

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY1310
Rating:7.6
Comments:
Judge Hirsh is not a bad guy. For the most part, as long as you are respectful of him and don't play games, he will be fair to you. He does have a tendency to take things out on attorneys if he is having a bad day. Also, his court clerk is a vindictive little troll who has a severe Napoleon complex. Hirsh seems to know this, and does keep him in his place to a point. But on matters where the clerk has free rein, he will make an attorney's life miserable. The reasons for this are unclear, as he is an equal opportunity jerk and doesn't just target plaintiffs or defendants. It is likely some form of "white collar envy", despite the fact that this troll probably has better work hours, better benefits, more sick and vacation time, and a more lucrative pension plan than most of the poor slob associates that appear in District Court. If Hirsh could just banish him to Judge Phoenix's chambers, we could consolidate two nightmares into one courtroom, and an appearance before Hirsh would not be as bad.
