What others have said about Hon. Howard Lane

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY4243
Respectful, even handed and expects counsel to do the same. Pleasant environment no matter what the situation. The court staff is equally respectful of both sides. A Judge Lane trial assignment is a gift for either side. Cannot say the same for many other judges.

Soft spoken judge who is sharper than he appears. Lets lawyers try their cases. He will spend the time to analyze the issues. Even if you disagree with his conclusion, you cannot accuse him of shooting from the hip. He will read the memos and cases that he is given. I recently observed him grant a motion for a unified trial. His reasoning was dead on. He will not twist anybody's arm to settle.

This judge and his staff have shown themselves time and again to be dysfunctional and unable to parse simple legal argument. People like this do not belong on the bench.
