How many lives has Barbara Panepinto destroyed, particularly children involved in custodial cases? She is an abomination masquerading as a judge. Her demeanor and tone have always been harsh and often angry. She has yelled at litigants and attorneys in open court. She is excessively arrogant, lacks impartiality and has had very loud off the record private conversations with attorneys about pending cases showing prejudgment, which could be overheard in the corridor outside her chambers. Her judicial misconduct has no limits, but mostly importantly it should be noted that she mismanages many high net worth cases by failing to render judgement in a reasonable amount of time. She has had motions before her which go unanswered for six, seven, eight nine, ten, eleven months. Two motions that went unanswered for over 20 months (pre Covid of course). I shudder at the thought of her judicial misconduct and mismanagement during Covid. She should have been retired a decade ago. My heart goes out to all the litigants (and their children) she has emotionally and financially abused and ruined over the years. As for the attorneys, they are able to overlook her incompetency and angry ways because she keeps their gravy train moving. May she soon retire and move Aruba.

Nothing has changed. 2020 & she is still biased & making biased decisions to constantly favor a defendant who continues to lie in court & it's easily provable. She does her best to bankrupt one person while another get off the hook. Obviously she does not take the welfare of children & the parent who has their best interest at heart. A complaint is going to be filed. She is outrageous.

All of the negative comments here are true; however, she is by far one of the best matrimonial judges in New York City if not the best. She knows the law and is pragmatic but she favors politically connected locals just a little bit (compared to the almost all of the matrimonial judges in NYC--who bend over backwards to part regulars and politically connected non profits, GALS etc).

She needs to go. She forced me into submission after she made sure I was punished financially. She sided with my ex-wife even-though her buddy that she picked for forensic evaluations and the legal guardian sided with the father. She stated he is a man and no-one will give him full custody. We all need to get together and vote her out.

I have witnessed first hand my other half going through lengthy divorce case that this so called judge resided over. I hope one day the injustice that she bestowed upon him will come back after her. There is no justice with this judge. She does not look at any evidence, just dispenses judgments without properly looking at evidence. She has absolutely no heart and is not interested in what is best for the kids or any parties involved. She needs to be voted out of office immediately.

I just wanted these posters to know I work in the same building as this judge and witnessed a sad display of emotions dictating her decisions. I'm truly ashamed I must work with someone like her. My advice is to hang in there.... You never know. One day she may have to answer to federal investigators as to her appointments of law guardians. It all catches up to these corrupt judges.

Comments:
She was biased from the start to the point where she ignored all my testimony while taking the fictional testimony of my opponent as gospel. Her decisions contained verbatim statements from the opposition testimony even though my testimony disputed it. It was almost as though I had no representation from an attorney until I had to pay their bill. She seems to have had an agenda from the beginning. Her conduct in the courtroom was, at times, unprofessional. Judge shouldn't be rolling her eyes and making comments such as "you again". She railroaded me into a stipulation of settlement.

I have not personally been involved in a courtroom setting with this judge. I have seen the results, however, of the way that she runs her courtroom. My sister-in-law has been railroaded by her inability to make any decisions whatsoever. I am privy to all of the correspondence and I have personal knowledge of every detail of her divorce, so I know what I am talking about. Divorces are not easy -- quite tragic, in fact -- but for the pain that these people go through to be increased by this judge is beyond explanation. Something is very wrong with the New York State court system, if it allows this woman to preside over divorce cases.

The previous comment was clearly written by the judge herself or her court attorney. This judge does not have the ability to make a decision and opts to destroy people financially until one person has no choice but to submit. May God have mercy on her soul when her life has to flash before her eyes and she has to relive all the misery she has inflicted on people. The only comfort I have after what she has done or not done in my matrimonial case is that at her age she doesn't have much longer to live. This judge should be ashamed of herself because of her lack of knowledge and the problems that creates when dispensing justice. If this is your judge and she refuses to make a decision file an Article 78 for mandamus, make a judicial complaint, because it's the only way to shed light on her failure to be a real judge. Oh, and as for the other comment listed, it is pretty pathetic to have to say nice things about yourself.

I was a male defendant in a contested divorce action. I found Judge to be professional, pragmatic and fair. She kept a tight rein on the litigation schedule and appeared to be cognizant of a lot of the minutia. She controlled the attorneys and produced an equitable result.
