What others have said about Hon. Julia I. Rodriguez

Civil Litigation - Private

Comment #: NY4356
Judge Julia Rodriguez is a fair, balanced, pleasant, punctual, Learned, smart, respectful judge with an excellent judicial temperament. She is bright, knowledgable of the law and strives to give all parties a fair trial and do justice. I tried a case before her and was impressed with her and think she is one of the best judges in the Bronx.

Had a motion decided by this judge. The decision showed her to be embarrassingly ignorant of the relevant law. Her decision even noted the relevant case law but she stated she "declined to follow" it.
A few weeks later, while waiting in court in Nassau county chatting with my adversary (on a different case entirely), my adversary described a similarly poor decision from this judge. I had not even mentioned her - it just came up in conversation. So I don't think this was an isolated incident.

Imagine a world where the TAP judge requires you to have all witnesses present the second time that a case is on for trial and refuses to give adjournments when your medical witness is not available on the court designated trial date. Imagine a world where you have your witnesses as demanded, pay the medical witness for the appearance and then are told that there are no judges available. Imagine a world where Civil Court trial judges do not hear trials after 2pm. The Bronx is that world and it is not a pretty place. Judge Rodriguez is that TAP judge.
