Completely self absorbed, no concern for the individuals who appear before her. Doesn't spend time researching or reviewing facts, case law, etc.. 'Lazy' she is more concerned with chastising the attorneys and litigants appearing before her. She enjoys bucking the system and pushing the limits of proper administration of law. Orange county is unfortunate to have her appointed (not elected) to Supreme Court, the dishonorable justice bartlett

I have litigated throughout New York State and Federal Courts, and in many other Courts throughout the country, and this judge is by far one of the worst I have encountered. She is rude and angry all the time. She does not allow any input from any of the lawyers on either side. She isn't biased, but she is just not nice. Everything she says, is a bark and command, not a normal conversation with counsel. And everything she says, she then makes certain to "put on the record" and to "so order" it. She cares more about the "goals and standards" of the court then she does about the merits of the case. It is shameful honestly. She will not make any allowance or courtesy for anyone. I pity other attorneys that practice before her.

This is an honest & unbiased opinion. She isn’t judicious, she isn’t fair, she isn’t considerate. She is abrupt. She doesn’t think very far ahead, so she makes many mistakes. She tries to bully the weaker litigant into a settlement, so stand-up and fight for your client. Fairness of the outcome is of little to no concern to her. She loves the power of making sua sponte rulings to dismiss cases and preclude evidence when she can attribute it to the fault of a lawyer.

The judge is biased. She does not look at the facts of a case yet makes up her own. Her decisions are questionable, lacks an education in law, it is a complete disgrace to have this woman serving in the capacity of a judge. It amazes me that she still has a job.

It's strikingly obvious that several of the positive reviews are fake and written by the same person. Clearly a close colleague.

Even those who are friendly with this judge, behind closed doors, say it like it is. The fact that she's in a position to affect people in such a profound way is disgraceful. Terrible judge.

This Judge is an absolute monster. She finds it amusing to threaten litigants. She gets a smug satisfaction from coming off as shocking, bullish, and cavalier. Her decisions completely fail to take into account how they will resonate with the real people that are left behind after being subjected to her incompetence. She's to lazy to actually look into case law regarding cases that have issues she's not familiar with. But hey, if timeliness and a willingness to move cases are whay you're looking for, she's your gal. Her appointment as a judge is only a result of her husbands position as Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party.

I know of other litigants that have had the great misfortune of having her assigned to their case, with the same experience. An absolute nightmare.

If I could give this judge a negative number rating I would....she is awful, has no idea what justice is. She be thrown off the bench as soon as possible. Too bad in this world people are appointed power by who they know and not what they know. Thank you for helping me lose total faith in our justice system by having Bartlett as the judge for my case. She is a menace to the judicial system.

Judge Bartlett's demeanor on the bench is a menace to the rights of the public. She uses the bench to suit her personal desire as opposed to those of the public. She should be taken off the bench immediately.

A child in black robes. Suffers from distemper. Hand writes absurd orders, schedules, admonishments which resemble manifestos. Uses "stars" and threatens sanctions. Utterly ridiculous. Why would anybody put their clients fate in her filthy hands. She should be impeached.

I happened to be in this Judge's part with a colleague. I had the opportunity to watch the Judge finishing up and ultimately resolve a complex trial. While I listened to the oral argument and discussion, I was extremely impressed not only with her understanding of the legal issues but more important, she was attentive and truly concerned about the litigants. Yes, many Judges are liked and/or respected by the lawyers, but it was truly refreshing to observe the Judge's deep concern and care for those citizens who had come before her seeking justice.

Fair. This Judge sits in Orange County. Civil term. She moves cases. Her decision are right on; never lets motions go undecided past 60 days (other Judges go years without decision). Knows rules of evidence. Keeps Richardsons on bench.

I recently saw that the Court of Appeals in the Jenack case unanimously reversed the App. Div. with a 7-0 vote to reinstate the decision of Judge Bartlett. This is the second or third time that she has been vindicated in the Court of Appeals. She gets the job done. A recent dismissal which angered one of the lawyers, came back for a full trial and was a jury trial dismissal. Those who want to argue with her seem to have their own political agenda. She is a great judge, and I hope that she keeps up the good work. We need more judges like this one.

Horrible judge. Does not understand or follow the law. Has bizarre political ideas which waft into her decision making. Her law secretary seems to do all of her thinking for her. Likes to rant and rave over nonsense. Very poor judicial temperament. Gets away with her silliness due to political connections. Not well qualified at all.

Has no business being a civil trial judge. Pre-trial when she can fall back on her law clerk, generally you will get the right result but on the bench when she has to act on her own, she makes up the law as she goes along; refuses to acknowledge existing case law or even to follow the CPLR. Horrible judicial temperament, is condescending and rude.

A tough but well prepared jurist. The person below who lambasted her, likely was not prepared. If you are not ready on your case, don't go to court. She is tough, prepared and well-qualified. If you want your case to move, you are in the right part. Very law and order oriented, made the prosecution work and prove its cases; which they resented. Do your job well and you will do well with this fair-minded jurist. It's that simple.

Finally, a Judge who is prepared. She knows each case and has read her file and notes before the calendar is called. She is very tough, but very fair. You want a trial, you got it. I don't know of another Judge in the State who tries more cases than Judge Bartlett. If we had more jurists like this, cases would move expeditiously throughout the 9th JD and NOT just in her part. Wonderful. Her Clerk is ver smart and her staff is very professional. It would be nice if they gave her a court room.

I have known this Judge for many years, first as a Prosecutor, then as a defense attorney, a local court judge and now a Court of Claims Judge and Acting JSC. She is hard working, fair and as professional as they come in this business. She is a tribute to professional women everywhere and she is an ideal role model for young women who strive to be the very best. Whomever put her on the bench, knew what they were doing....a great jurist.

An excellent jurist. Very nice woman, extremely professional. Keeping the DA in check may have upset some who were looking for the easy way out, but she always fought to see that justice was served. Isn't that the mark of a true jurist? Would appear before her on any matter and be confident that my client and I would be treated fairly and with dignity and respect.

One of the worst judges on the bench. Very biased against police and constantly fighting with the District Attorney. Her only "qualification" for office is that her husband is the Orange County Republican Party Chairman. She should be removed from office.
