My case was in the wrong jurisdiction when I pointed it out to him he asked the opposing attorney" Why did you bring it here?". The opposing attorney said "because it was around the corner from his office.". The judge let it proceed. It seemed like his clerk knew more about the case then he did but did not care. He ruled before I was ven walked in there.

He's the best Judge you will get on Staten Island. Knows the law and is fair.
At times he can seem a bit gruff but its just a show. He's really a nice guy.
He is decisive which is a good quality for a Judge.

Doesn't care about anything except maybe moving through calendars. Probably intends to force settlement through lack of identifiable jurisprudence, making it a dice roll on relatively sure things. Likely does know the law, but may have replaced jurisprudence with politics and patronage.

I was before Judge Minardo to argue a summary judgment motion. It was clear he had not read the motion papers. He was rude, abrupt and refuse to allow complete argument on the issues and decided from the bench by simply saying question of fact w/o explaining what question he found. I'm going straight to the AD.

Appeared before him several times. He is absolutely rude and demeaning to lawyers. I see attorneys arguing their motions professionally and courteously and he insults and yells at them for no reason. He is a power hungry man who has no interest in administering justice. He is only interested in showcasing his authority and power over others. He is a disgrace to the profession.

A very dangerous political judge capable of making false opinions and judgments. Will not think twice of protecting egregious and even unlawful conduct of select attorneys or abusing his power and position to create unjust and even retaliatory unlawful orders.

Rude, nasty, full of himself. Once forced a cop in jury selection to recant his position of bias towards police before placing him in the jury box.
Respected only because he he insists he be.

Comment #: NY2210
I found the negative comments for this judge to be untrue. Appeared on a motion where he clearly read the papers, knew the facts and understood the issues. He asked specific questions and only got slightly terse at one lawyer who hadn't learned the lesson from Litigation 101 that you don't interrupt a judge.
I get the impression the negative comments came from people who expected to prevail without actually proving their case.

A maniac.

Look, if you are ready and able to try your case he is fine. He does not put up with the standard BS from either side. He usually listens then beats you up then tells you to come back. Still if you do not have a thick skin, why are you in the court room.

Justice Minardo does not like to read motion papers or engage in any type of intellectual discussion regarding issues.
The "Sam Kinisen" of judges. Just think of the scene in Rodney Dangerfield's "Back to School" when Kinisen denigrated a young student who offered an intellectual analysis about the cause of the Vietnam war.
Very narrow minded and will yell at you when you demonstrate your ability to analyze an issue that is over his head.
Instead of allowing attorneys to make intelligent points, he just picks who he likes and will not consider any alternative positions.
A dreadful judge.

The Grand High Exaulted Mystic Ruler of Staten Island. Acts like a big shot in Hooterville.

Bends over backwards to help politically connected locals.

Minardo is a nasty bully who has no sympathy for injured people.
Jealous of plaintiff attorneys who are financially successful.
Will bend over backwards to help a Staten Islander against an outsider. Is better suited to sell hot dogs at the ballpark than to administer justice.

A nastier, meaner-spirited man you'd be hard pressed to find! Once observed him preside in a TAP Part out of his county when his girlfriend and fellow jurist's negligence case was being assigned for trial in that county. I could not believe my eyes.
