Sadly she died and I feel bad for her loved ones. However I found her court room behavior to be unprofessional and extremely rude. I had filed for a order of protection which was granted by another judge(this was in 2013?)The case somehow landed in her lap. This judge was yelling at me. She seemed to side with the abuser ( I actually wrote a letter to the court about her conduct) Anyway. I learned the abuser had two other order of protections against him and he’s currently doing the same to other females. This judge was yelling at the district attorney. I don’t know if it was her old age ( no disrespect) but she seemed to have lost all applicants of the law. I had a feeling she should have long been removed and her sitting the bench was damaging. It seems like she was mad at the world . I’ve read comments that she seemed to not like white otitis she was bias. Well I’m black and a woman and you would have thought I did something to this lady. She was very mean. I can’t deny reading these comments made me realize I did the right thing haven voiced my experience to the court. I also think she knew the a accused he was from Her town and she was very favorable to him. Rest In Peace now God is the judge over how she lived her life. I hope and pray she made right with Him as we all must

Judge Bean is absolutely the worst, she told my lawyer sit down and shut up. She then stated when told her she was wrong to take up his concern on appeal. My lawyer was a 20 year Suffolk County Homicide ADA. I was found not guilty by a jury in less than 14 minutes thanks to my lawyer

I luckily got my case quickly done with no issues but I felt terrible for this young white attorney. i think she was a legal aid. This judge was so mean to her it was uncomfortable. She embarrassed her, mocked her, told her I don’t care what your office has you do, told her she needs to learn the law. Extremely unprofessional. It’s sad to see a female belittle another female the way she did. I admired the way the attorney handled herself. She stood her ground, held her head up, and didn’t let this judge bully her. That takes a lot of guts especially for such a young girl. I hope that attorney knows the entire courtroom thought you were excellent and the judge was horrible.

This woman should not be a judge. She doesn't understand the law, she does 't review the cases. She has some type of issue with white women. As a 27 yr old female who was assaulted in the middle of the street after a drunk man crashed into my car, I ended up with a broken nose & a concussion. The "Honorable" Toni Bean allowed him to be released without bail, and then she had the DAs office ignore my phone calls. I was never notified that she allowed him to take a deal where he paid $120 dollars and received no charges. Now I am down over $20,000 dollars in medical fees with no way of paying for them. She should be in jail.

How can I put this diplomatically? Putting an empty suit on the bench would produce better judicial outcomes. How do you expect lawyers and defendants to take you seriously when takes the bench at almost 11:00 and once on the bench she demonstrates contempt for those with a practice to run and don’t have time to waste while she faffs about reviewing the file without a clue as to what the issues are before her. I’m sorry, litigants and the constitution deserve more than this terrible excuse for a judge.

She is a wonderful judge that holds both the defense and the people accountable and to their standards. She expects you to be prepared. The comments below of racism are completely unfounded. She is equally harsh or accommodating when it is needed to both sides both genders, and all races. The comments stating she is against white females are beyond false. It is disheartening to read such falsehoods.

Having watched Judge Bean the last 2 1/2 years on numerous days that led up to The People's trial against my ex I would see how she would speak to people and be so taken aback at her lack of respect for some. But to witnessed how she was so disrespectful during this trial to the young female ADA who was prosecuting this case and showed such a bias towards her "favored" defense attorney was an absolute disgrace. I have no respect for her and hope she becomes disrobed and never re elected to the bench. For an African American woman to be in such a position and treat another woman (The ADA) just so poorly ,unprofessional and disrespectful was truly disheartening at the least. I am glad a mistrial was declared as a mockery of a trial would have ensued. At the very least my ex was unable to have the "public" lashing he so wanted of me. This I rejoice in. As a victim of his physical and verbal abuse for years this was his ultimate goal but it was denied. For this I am grateful.
The words IN GOD WE TRUST should not be over Judge Bean's head as she can not be "trusted" to allow a fair trial to be had by all parties.

The quality of the judiciary in Suffolk County has declined severely over the past decade. A collection of undeserving political sycophants have entrenched themselves at the District Court level. By any rational objective standard, Judge Bean should not be on the bench. Any individual who believes otherwise clearly loves Kool-Aid.

Having seen her handle thousands of cases, I can report that the allegations of racism on this page are completely unfounded. While she often doesn't give everyone unlimited time to speak, this is really just an attempt to keep the calendar moving and get everyone home as quickly as she can. I've seen her be both accommodating and harsh to people of all races.

While it's true that many judges need refreshers on the law, her knowledge of it is no worse than many others'.

If you're looking to have your case resolved in a manner that is acceptable to you, remember to be courteous and friendly, don't make demands, be quick, and don't waste her time with applications that ask for too much.

Remember: Hardship licenses (according to statute) are supposed to be granted only when there is an EXTREME hardship (not a mere inconvenience). Just because other judges give them out like it's nothing doesn't mean she's wrong in denying some of them.

OMG I am going to trail in march. The DA wanted to hang me for a one time thing with my child. This has been going on for about 18 Months now. I had judge murphy from the begining and now last month I got her. I have no chance now she HATES WHITE WOMAN!!!!!!! And the DA officejust will not give up on this my child told the DA office a nd the judge murphy that she will not testify against me...I have a very very bad feel about this ...please all the white woman pray for me...

The comment listed right below is extremely accurate. I'm a 30 year old "white" female with no priors what so ever. I had a extremely low reading (point 1 1) for a d.w.i. She denied me my hard ship license for no valid reason! I work hard and go to school and stressed that factor to her that I needed to be able to get to and from work, school etc. I know 19 year olds who were able to get hardship licenses with a reading of a point 1 5 or higher within 2 weeks of a d.w.i But here is the best part of it all. I witnessed two black males in the court room to whom she ripped up there tickets saying dismissed with a big smile on her face. Not to mention they were dressed extremely inappropriate in a court room. A Racist most definitely. Something should be done about this, How is this even aloud.

Didn't even take the time to listen to my attorney's argument. It appeared she wasn't even paying attention. Just refused any plea for a reduced sentence for a first time offender and an otherise law abiding citizen. How does a person like this end up in a position of such importance? Horrible.

Terrible judge. She was rumored to have been appointed as a mea culpa to the black community by the county executive shortly after he was caught on tape making a racist comment. Not sure if that is true but the timing fits. The committee on judicial conduct has a specific investigator assigned to handle complaints regarding this judge. Call the committee and the staff will tell you to whom a complaint should be addressed by name. That's really bad. Heard from many legal aid attorneys that blacks get deals and white folks get slammed in front of her. She is absolutely clueless and graduated from the bottom tier of law schools, Howard University.

Since 2008 this judge has given me two temporary orders of protection for Allegedly threatenting someone in my family who incidently was a warrant officer ( how coincidental) recently retired. I would be crazy to come to CENTRAL ISLIP to go infront of this judge after reading the comments from these Lawyers. I was even told to stay out of NY permantly after I told him who the Judge was stating that Judge Bean was the most bias and worst Judge he had to deal with. If anyone reading this wants to contact me for the whole story email me I want you to know about some Officers from the 2ND PCT in Huntington who I believe violated my constitional rights.

I think she was an insurance lawyer before she became a criminal law judge. She is pretty awful. The ADA told me they weren't ready but insisted I waive time. When I said no he announced ready. I called him on it before the judge and asked for a written statement of readiness and she said no. When she set a motion schedule, I asked for an off-calendar motion schedule and she said no. I then asked to waive my client's appearance for the motion submission days and she said no. Just awful.

She's a poor jurist and an obstructionist. I asked her I got supervisor approval for an impaired plea on a refusal (there were mitigating circs.)if she'd allow the plea to go thru. She wouldn't say. Say yes, say no, just realize I have a job to do.

This judge was without a doubt the worst justice to ever enter a courtroom. I actually witnessed her telling an elderly handicapped woman that she was going to be thrown out in contempt of court for speaking, when , in fact, there were two obviously intoxicated clients awaiting judgement in the row in back of this elderly women , and it was these two intoxicated clients that were crouched down and speaking...the elderly handicapped woman had not uttered a single sound but had been clutching onto her rosary beads the entire time...in silence! What kind of justice is this?

Undoubtedly the worst judge to enter a courtroom. Told a young woman with an obvious broken neck, by the orbital neck brace, in her court room to "Stop slouching or you will be held in contempt." Unprofessional, inconsiderate, and above all unjust in her rulings. If this was many years ago I would have to label her as a "hanging" judge.
