As an attorney observing her preside in my case as well as in several others on the same morning, I found her to be very efficient and well-tempered in presiding over the small claims part. She was also respectful of all the litigants and attorneys appearing before her, and was helpful in brokering settlements. I have not read any of Judge Samuel's written opinions, but from the perspective of courtroom demeanor, I give her an A+.

This judge is horrible. My experience before this judge showed her to be distinctly lacking in knowledge of the applicable law. She also improvidently issued advisory opinions to appease a difficult litigant to the material prejudice of the rights of opposing parties, thereby creating unnecessary complexities rather than resolving them. She was ready and willing to forsake propriety in order to further her own interests.

Judge Samuels ran the pre-trial at which I was a defendant with rigor, vigor, precision and a respectful regard for the rights of the defendant. Brava Judge Samuels for looking out for the rights of the 99%!

This judge understands the law and applies it even-handedly. She settles cases quickly and fairly, and when one party or the other wants trial, she provides one. She is on the bench from 9:30 to 1:00 and from 2:00 to 5:00, unlike many of the other judges.

Justice Samuels makes snap decisions without any regard for the rule of law. She is lazy and did no legal research in connection with her decision in my case. Instead, she relied on effusive language to hide the fact that her decisions had absolutely no bearing in law. She simply guessed. I've had a terrible experience before her and based on her record and the high percentage of times she is reversed, so have many others.
