Comments:
Lori Sattler is a huge disappointment being that she came from Family Court and moved to Supreme Court. She is afraid to take control and make decisions! She clearly does not read motion papers and is so afraid of what others think of her than her just doing her job! Send her back to office job!

Judge Sattler has a great deal of experience handling complicated custody matters as well as sophisticated financial cases. She has a very even demeanor and is respectful to both litigants and lawyers.

Judge Sattler seems fair and sticks to the agreement. She seems very unwilling to make a decision when there is an impasse in families. I thought that's what you come to family court for, when families can not agree. Judge Sattler seems disinterested in hearing perspectives of each side and determining. I found her to be inherently lazy and a bit overwhelmed by the task she has been entrusted with. She is no boat rocker and at least in my case, values motherhood over fatherhood. She seems to think that the roll and purpose of a father is to write checks and keep quiet. She seems very new, unseasoned, and lacks confidence in her decisions. She is like an undergrad dialing it in and happy with a "C".

My client also suffered horribly at her hands. Inability to make good decisions and just hates reading the papers. She actually seems quite biased favorably towards mothers, especially financially, unless a father is millionaire/billionaire to contest. Quite obvious that she is sensitive to her decisions getting appealed but therein lies the irony of her rulings. She delays cases which quite often tilts the balance of the case as it moves away from relevant facts and important issues as time goes on.

I went to Sattler seeking to enforce my visitation and that my daughter is being alienated from me,what does she do she give the father an Order of Protection faster than she can give me visitation and now I am waiting still on both issues after three years! What a disgrace! If she can't make decisions then get her off the bench!,,, she's obviously not someone who can be trusted behind the bench to make intelligent decisions!,,

I fully agree with the rating, that she is just another joke of the judical system. The great ratings are obviously from herself or "friends". I personally had to suffer, because of her carelessness. It was very hurtful, that she wasn't able to read papers and to weigh evidence even in front of her face. So she delivered a child right into the hands of an abusive father. Awful!! After her decision I suffered a sudden hearing loss because of the stress level she caused with her behaviour.

This judge is fair and intelligent. She also works really hard to settle cases with a fair result, and her staff really works hard. She is my favorite judge thus far, out of all of the judges that I have appeared in front of before. She follows the law.

Comments:
The negative comments are typical of disgruntled litigants in a highly emotional area of the law (matrimonial disputes). The comments about the "abortion case" are particularly ill-informed: (1) that trial was about the mother's rampant prescription drug abuse; and (2) evidence of her abortion was admitted only because the mother herself made a big deal about what a good Catholic she was (thus, the father's lawyer was allowed to introduce evidence to refute that contention). Judge Sattler made the right call.

Divorces can get ugly, but the judge is supposed to be impartial to the ugliness -- not to join in and add to it. An abortion does not make one a bad parent, just as popping out kids does not make one a good parent -- just as reaching the bench does not make one a good and fit judge. It is important to remove your political stance from your judgments of cases.

It seems that all of the respondents in this matter equate abortion with fitness. In that respect, they miss the issue. The judge simply ruled that testimony of the former wife as to whether or not she had an abortion could be used to measure her credibility. The issue of abortion is immaterial, but the wife's truthfulness is not. The judge was correct.
