This woman was unfair in every way. She refused petitioner and respondent the right to approach the bench and hear the proceedings, she refused to allow the respondent to speak in her defense, she refused to allow any evidence or witness on the respondents behalf. If she is the best of the four in Housing Court then we are all doomed to live in a box under the bridge!

Comment #: NY4340
She discussed the stipulation with the tenant (who owed six months rent) very diligently and kindly. NEVER even looked at me, the LL. I's as if I weren't even there. When I tried to say something, she blurted "keep quiet!". I had heard that she is the most leftist housing court judge in NYC, but she's even worse than I had expected.

she is a compliant judge--with the "other" side or Lawyer. I bsuspect she does favors by ruling in favor of---

Comment #: NY3601
Waited 3 hours to get to Housing Part B bench. Informed that without building violation (HPD passed my inspection along to DOB) judge would not examine photos of building neglect. I was under impression that rules of evidence exist per Housing Court website and Nolo Press book on tenant self help. Felt pressured to withdraw proceeding w/o prejudice. Total time before bench two minutes. Never given name of opposing counsel. Overall perspective: how overwhelming it is for judges and lawyers in this part; 40 cases before my name was called. Lost trust in legal system.

A friend of mine was a rent stabilized tenant of over 10 years in a building where the landlord never gave written leases. She was so pro-landlord it was disgusting. She constantly sustained ridiculous objections made by the landlord's aggressive lawyer, and prevented the tenant's attorney from getting the most basic and relevant evidence admitted. She was angry and rude to the tenant and his attorney, and clearly favored the landlord. She refused to allow the tenant's rebuttal witneses to testify that the landlord's only witness was a liar. Her conduct and demeanor in the courtroom were outrageously biased and deplorable, and represent everything I hate about civil litigation after 22 years of practice. She had no qualm evicting a tenant who presented clear evidence of a landlord-tenant relationship for over 10 years. It's shocking how hostile and rude she is to tenants and their rights.
