Judge Singh was prepared, timely, and respectful. He was active during oral argument, asked thoughtful questions demonstrating to counsel that he considered the arguments in detail.

Based on my personal experience of having complaint against me assigned to this judge, I would say his performance isn't what someone who is not a legal professional expects from a judge AND is not what legal professionals expect from a judge. Several attorneys who I have explained this experience to were surprised; they know Judge Singh and they all like him. Most tried to come up with some excuse for what he seems to have done; in the end, however, the conclusion is nothing can be done about what he did do.

What he did: He held back the case that I was a litigant in for several years only providing letter, 7 + years later, to attorneys stating he might need to recuse himself because his wife had become an employee of the institution that had filed against me the same month and year the institution had filed against me. I was eager to go to court when their complaint was originally filed against me; My reply to their complaint made that clear.

It appears he sat on the case/held the case back from being adjudicated. He could have recused himself then, but didn't.

This is the worst judge that I've ever seen, by far. He had an agenda and engineered an important ruling to meet the agenda, even when it was blatantly contrary to legal standards. He is absolutely shameless.

He is an excellent judge. I spent a month on trial with him and he lets you try your case. His rulings are based on the law and he runs a very calm courtroom. He is very respectful to attorneys and litigants. Wonderful judge!

Calm in the court room, but is a "know it all" and can be over his head on legal issues

I've appeared before Judge Singh on multiple matters and he has a very calm and respectful demeanor. He denied my motion, but he was very fair and made logical points.

He is a bright guy who never really practiced law so it makes it hard for him to understand the exigencies of the life of a lawyer in private practice.

I agree with all the PROFESSIONAL comments here. It would be a great pity if he were elevated just yet, -though he is desperately needed in the First Department Appellate Division.

No amount of influence or money spent on litigation will influence this judge. He identifies issues early and then gives every opportunity to parties/counsel to change his mind on them.

Ability to cut to the chase is better than most other judges in the Supreme Court where he sits. Seems to look at ALL the issues in a case before arriving at a view, which is quite unusual in the New York State Supreme Court. If he cuts you short, it is because he has taken your point on board, not because he has misunderstood it or doesn't agree with it or realise its significance, like many other judges.

Makes it extremely difficult for time-wasters or those trying to outspend their opponent into submission.

Justice Singh is a very sensible, no nonsense, respectful of attorneys and litigants, well tempered Justice. He is approchable and listens to all sides. He also will entertain solutions that are outside of the box and creative. He is a pleasure to be in front of.

Extremely biased and self serving and will collude with lawbreaking by turing a blind eye to corruption. Dreadful Judge for supreme court and truly dangerous. He will collude with his lawyer friends for political favors and let them away with outrageous conduct in his courtroom and innocent people suffer because of this. He is very immoral and I hope they remove him from supreme court.

A pleasure to appear before. Comfortable with, and respectful of, the law. No histrionics -- just identifies the issues and addresses them.
