This previous post makes a lot of sense...she does also belittle, harass and intimidate prose litigants, (working people) who can't afford attorneys....

I had ex parte part assign an OTSC to her. And, then, inexplicably, she refused to review it. In this case, she acted very annoyed and out of temper for no reason. I later learned that she was appointed to the NYC Criminal Court by the Mayor, and then assigned to the Supreme Court by the Administrative Judge's Order. It is clear from the record in multiple cases that her decisions are politically motivated in ways that harm working people. She is not an elected Supreme Court Justice but she is asking to be put on the ballot so she can become one. Her record in making politically motivated decisions that, on balance, weigh heavily against the rights of working people, would suggest that there are other more suitable candidates who ground decisions in the rule of law, rather than in an effort to gain political favor with the persons who appointed her to the NYC Criminal Court, which then allowed her to be designated as a Justice of the Supreme Court. It is unclear why so many Article 78 proceedings against the City of New York get assigned to her Part. Someone should investigate the assignment procedures to determine whether cases against the City are specifically assigned to her Part.

I had ex parte part assign an OTSC to her. And, then, inexplicably, just refused to take the case. What's up with that?? She acted very harried/annoyed/out of temper for no reason. Even clerks in ex parte part were bewildered.

Judge Crane is a thoughtful judge handling commercial litigation. She always reads the papers beforehand, has tremendous insight into the complex legal issues, and delivers fair and evenhanded rulings. Attorneys must be prepared because Judge Crane certainly knows the cases assigned to her.

I've argued two substantive motions before the Judge, but haven't yet received decisions. That being said, I found her attentive, familiar with all submitted materials and determined to move the case. She's obviously bright and capable.

She is mentally unstable in my opinion. Shocking that she is a judge and that no one at the court has reprimanded her. I was very close to reporting her to someone at the Supreme Court because her behavior and that of her clerk was so completely unethical and just bordering on total lunacy. She ended up recusing herself. Someone at the Supreme Court needs to be monitoring this woman. Nobody should be subjected to her abuse and she is totally abusive.

I fully agree with all of the comments previously made by the criminal defense attorneys who had the misfortune of appearing before her. She is rude, intemperate, dismissive and completely unwilling to listen. It's her way or the highway without any opportunity to even make a record. she should go back to working for trump's lawyers at kasowitz.

Comments:
Represents everything that is wrong with the state judicial selection system. Insecurity in her lack
of knowledge and qualification causes her to lash out when challenged or confronted with legal argument. Disrespectful towards defense attorneys and dismissive of reasoned arguments. Her unprofessional demeanor reflects poorly on the office she holds and our legal system in general. Heard she was recently sent back to civil court. Hopefully she can do less damage there.

She should not be a judge. Insecure about her incompetence; I understand her father was a good judge, but that does not entitle you to a judgeship.

An incompetent judge that has no business trying criminal cases. She should be milking the system from a SAP part where she cant hurt anyone.

This Judge is Fair and Honest. She absolutely positively is prepared and listens to both sides in an even manner. As a person not used to court rooms, I was pleasantly surprised that justice does prevail.

Comments:
Yells at defense attorneys when they submit routine motions. On more than one occasion, she would not allow a defense attorney to speak or to preserve the record, as required by law. She is the only judge in the misdemeanor court to routinely deny or modify sentences, making them harsher than the sentence agreed-upon by the prosecutor. She is one of the new lot of judges trying to compete for Biggest Hardass.

Comments:
A horrible person, with the ability to traumatize an already traumatized individual. Doesn't even hear what the defense lawyer has to say. Listens to inexperienced prosecuting lawyers. No intuition to see the truth or innocence of a wrongly accused victim of abuse.
