This judge does not display the temperament expected of a NYS Supreme Court justice. He is volatile and lashes out at attorneys, and makes a mockery of your arguments in front of witnesses, and often even answered questions for witnesses to spoon feed them the direction he wants things to go. He levels decisions on evidence and proceedings and cases from a position of bias and ego. He continues to be elected despite negative evaluations by the judicial review committee-unreal! I don't agree with NY9948-he doesn't know the first thing about kids or families.

Comments like that by No.NY7945 are frequently posted by attorneys that over-promise ad under-deliver. When they don't succeed in getting their client the ridiculous promises they made (at many hundreds an hour), the problem MUST be the judge! I am shortly appearing before Judge Nervo again in one of the few matrimonial cases he is handing...I wish he were handling them all.

Lawyers like #7945, because they don't want to lose a client, fail to advise them that the OTHER parent -- male, female, gay, straight -- also has rights with respect to property and, especially, any children. So how do you explain the judge's different (and correct) result? "The judge is unfair. The judge is incompetent. The judge doesn't care about children." Ridiculous.

The fact of the matter is this judge, as well as all the others I've appeared in front of in Manhattan Family Court and Supreme Court ARE concerned about children. What they are not concerned about is making decisions to accommodate some lawyer's promise he or she made to get and keep a client.

Good lawyers are honest with their clients; the disgraceful among our ranks post like NY7945.

He is one of the worst judges I have ever appeared in front of. He is not knowledgeable and depends heavily on his court attorney, who also does not know what he is talking about. Its very discouraging and concerning to know we have someone on the bench who does not care about the litigants who appear in front of him. He should not handle matrimonial matters. I hope to never appear in front of him again.

Fair, patient, intuitive and listens to all parties before making decisions. It's easy for a judge to react quickly but Judge Nervo takes the time to listen before making a decision. I really respect that.

I was a pro se litigant being sued for fees by a divorce attorney. I was afraid that I may find a lot bias, as I was defending myself against another attorney. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. Judge Nervo was extremely fair, listened to the facts from both sides equally. His patience in this case was outstanding ! He has renewed my faith in the legal system. After going through a grueling divorce proceeding and encountering many different Judges, I have nothing bad to say about him. The fact that he ruled in my favor in this case has no bearing on how rated this Judge. I commend him for showing respect to a pro se litigant.

Sounds like some sour notes from self-representeds not quite as smart as they thought.
Lazy? The courts keep records. In ten months of 2014, 17-18 jury trials to verdict, a number of others resolve mid-trial, innumerable motions with written decisions, and five weeks of hearings outside of the courthouse at hospitals, and also coaches a mock trial high school tream four months a year, two nights a week. Other things, maybe, but not lazy.

Buyable? Hardly. If this guy needed money, plenty of more lucrative opportunities in the world of litigation. On the bench for all the right reasons.

I had a one day trial in front on Judge Nervo. I think it costs about $3,000-5,000 to prevail. He cheerfully accepts pay offs.
TOTAL JERK.
