Judge Harkin is biased and a bully, making extremely rash and harsh decisions breaking up families. He is a very punishing judge and very ineffective in family preservation. He has a problem seeming to enjoy removing young children which is very traumatic and harmful to the very children he is supposed to be protecting.

~ For a sitting judge to use discrimination and fail to follow the code of conduct. The abuse of power. Arrogant and I know multiple families in different situations where he used discrimination and failed to allow them to defend themselves. Judge Harkin is an excellent judge who moves his cases along and sees through charades that some litigants try to pull off. He has been around a long time and cuts to the chase. I have always known him to be fair and outspoken. I have appeared on many cases before him and I have always been treated fairly. That he is discriminatory against women, is bull. He has a female law clerk that he treats with the utmost respect. I have never seen him disrespect anyone in the courtroom. Some litigants don't like being called out on their drama. If a litigant is a substance abuser, he tries to give him/her a fair shot, time for rehab, he gives litigants a chance.

No one ever wants to be in court and if you are there there is an issue to be resolved. The judge has a very difficult job and many people will experience very uncomfortable situations. Judge Harkin has the responsibility to use laws to remedy the issues for every family because we were unable to solve the issues ourselves.He has a reputation as the harshest Judge in the Court, and I see it as a strength necessary to control the people that are truly on need of help. Anyone that has achieved a seat on a judges bench is a very highly functioning self actualizing individual, be more understanding of the necessity and function of his role as it relates to your families issues that are so escalated that you have found yourself sitting in a court.

Harkin is a disgrace. We have had the same experience as the below posters. Would not ever let my husband speak. Threatened to throw him in jail numerous times over false accusations of violating a visitation order, that had not been heard at a trial yet, made by a known drug addict who lost custody of all of her children. Mother was allowed to either never show up to court or show up late and waste everyone's time with no consequences ever. She was also allowed to violate an order for forensic evaluation numerous times. Then when the evaluation was completed he didn't even read it and we would have to pay 2 grand to have this woman testify that her report says the mother is a lunatic and potential child abuser. He had a bias even before a trial and we were told by our lawyer we would most likely lose our case because of it. So we were backed into a corner to settle with a mother who should never have a child under her care. I was told by a lawyer that knows him he has a thing for helping drug addict mothers. Attorney for children, Darrelle Cairo, calls the shots in his courtroom if she's been appointed to the case. Harkin does not care about children that are being mentally and emotionally abused by a parent. He's on an ego trip, and if you question him, he'll make sure your case isn't heard fairly. He needs to go!

He was rude and nasty he would not let me speak every single time I opened my mouth he told me he wasn’t speaking to me or that he didn’t ask me I as the petitioner was under the impression that I would be asked questions or at least have a chance to speak and he shut me down every single time I say your honor I didn’t make it past the hon he is nasty rude and quiet frankly I don’t believe he deserves to be in that chair

Judge Harkin has destroyed my family.
I left my abusive relationship with my kids father, got myself into therapy months before I even started going through the family court stuff. No matter how much evidence was presented to him about anything. My children's father found a new legal way to harass me, Non stop cps calls, all have been unfounded. But custody was still taken from me. My 12yr old son has been in therapy due to depression relating to his siblings father. Since he's had custody of 3 my kids, my 6yr old daughters school has suggested she be put in therapy due to depression.
Harkin has caused more harm to my children than anything. And he makes me feel as if it was a mistake leaving an abusive relationship.

I am a father who loves his children more than himself. This Judge has disgraced the Family Court system merely by his prescence he doesn't belong behind that bench. He is a bully, immensely arrogant and treats the people like 2nd class citizens in his court. He has disrespected me too many times and so I am filing a formal complaint against this troglodyte and I suggest anybody who's had a negative experience with this disgraceful judge do the same. Maybe if enough of us do so he can receive some consequences and know how it feels to be judged hopefully as unfairly as he treats the citizens of this great nation.

is rude,intimidating,insulting and does not serve in the best interest of families. He is unprofessional...and a BULLY! He should be removed from the family court division of our judicial system and moved to the criminal court system.

I have never felt so disrepected in my life! He wouldn't let me speak, I tried to withdrawl paperwork but he refused. He created such a mess and all he had to do was listen to a 15 year old explain why she doesn't want to change schools.

Hardin is terrible. He knows. I thing about Family Law. He favors white men. He is racist against blacks. He definitely is biased against women. He has no business being on the bench. He pays no attention to the facts or the clear evidence. His orders are. It worth the paper they are written on because he does not enforce. He encourages and allows custodial interference. He only makes case worse then they were before he grabbed hold of them, he is disrespectful and does not allow one to speak unless you agree with him. VOTE THIS IDIOT OUT.

George Harkin should not be allowed to sit under a plaque that says truth and justice. He is disrespectful to parties attorneys love that he has biases against women and disregards all proof and states “ I do not care what they say”
I pray for the day he gets removed from his seat and prohibited from ruining children and families lives
