Initially, my divorce case was overseen by Judge Joseph Lorintz, whose handling left much to be desired. Dissatisfied with the direction my case was taking, I made the decision to switch attorneys and was recommended Simonetti & Associates. To my surprise, I discovered that Judge Lorintz could no longer preside over my case due to a conflict of interest. Therefore, if you want to get away from Judge Lorintz, just hire Lou Simonetti.

Judge Lorintz is adjudicating my case. As you would expect, he's doing a bad job--But "good" and "bad" are subjective. You know what's NOT?--the record. This is a sample of what he's said about our divorce case *ON THE RECORD*:

"…[W]e've lived a very traumatic experience with this case. It's been traumatic. And everyone here, other than yourself [my attorney], has been traumatized…."

Now, I'm no jurist, but should a judge who claims to be "traumatized" by a case continue adjudicating cases? If, for example, a surgeon claimed that operating on patients caused her trauma, should she return to the O.R.? If arresting suspects caused a police officer trauma, should he return to the beat? Of course not.

Why then should adjudicating over the lives of litigants be any different?

Can you name a job a person should continue doing if they claim to be traumatized by doing it?

To be continued…

While his decision after trial was ok, I was willing to take it, there is NO enforcement.
The courts have major flaws, and it affects women in so many ways. It’s just not right. I pay the salary of these courts, and we deserve them to DO THEIR JOB.
Not happy with Lorintz’s lack of enforcement.

I am atty but appeared for the above as a litigant. To give some history I was going through a very contentious divorce with my ex wife who wanted me to have only alternate weekends with my daughter for no other reason then she knew it would hurt me to be apart from my daughter. I of course wanted more. At the outset I hired a famous atty from Melville who was awful and made the matter linger for over three years. The matter was originally assigned to judge ginelli who gave me a fifty fifty custody split early on Which was 15 overnights a month and then she was replaced by the above for the trial. My ex wife refused to negotiate. At that point and for over 3 years I had 15 overnights with my daughter without incident. During the litigation Judge Ginelli was replaced by the above. My matter was scheduled for trial many times before the above with it being put over. In 2019 I had replaced my prior atty who again was terrible with with another atty whom I thought was a friend. The matter was put down for trial in august of 2019. In May of 2019 I was hospitalized with colon cancer which required surgery I developed sepsis and was placed on a ventilator. I got of the hospital in june and was told by my atty that the case would not go forward due to the fact that I was still ailing from my stay in the hospital. Thankfully I have since recovered The case went forward allegedly because the above would not adjourn it. The guardian appointed to my daughter felt I was equal to me ex in terms of co parenting and wanted the current split to remain. There were confs held behind closed doors and what was explained to me was that the above was leaning on both my atty and the guardian against me because he is "old school" that he has two daughters and feels he leans toward my ex because she was the mother. We went through three days of trial where my ex berated me with testimony mainly on the issue of me having a vision impairment. The guardian felt my vision impairment had no impact on my parenting duty. I was being told that no matter what happened during the trial the above was going to find for my ex and I would be relegated to alternate weekends. That I would win on appeal according to the guardian and that she would help me. Being an atty myself and knowing what a judge could do and the time and cost of an appeal I was faced with the prospect of six days a month or the 10 days the guardian got my ex wife to agree to. I begged and pleaded my exes atty myself for an additional overnight. All of the above can be backed up as i have the entire transcript and every page of litigation that went on. I am writing this expecting nothing as child custody especially if your a father is flawed. The entire matrimonial system from the lawyers up needs to be overhauled. I am a pi atty and what I have seen in every aspect of family law litigation is gross. From the lawyers given the ability to fleece their clients to uncaring and callous judges. As a man I felt abandoned by the system it has been a year since and my daughter is still getting adjusted to losing that precious time with me. Part of my deal I was given two dinner visits which my five year old does not understand. FYI my ex only gives me one dinner because she feels she can. I had bought a house in long island and even though the guardian wanted me to stay in that home with the agreed upon days my ex refused to sign the stipulation unless I moved and I was forced to leave my house in long island which my daughter loved and move to an apartment in queens. I write this for my own catharsis I doubt the above will see this or care. but I couldn't sit silently. The system we currently have with every day judges making decision on the needs of children they rarely see or have any kind of educational background in is perverse.

Allows a lot of latitude from his AFCs which as we can see from public prior cases has had unfortunate results.

The consummate jurist. Always love a judge who was in the trenches as a private practitioner for years before the bench. He understands both our schedules and the bullshit excuses. If you never lie to him, you will have his respect. If you lie to him and are caught - move to another county - he has a long memory.

“Ms. Valva, move along,” Lorintz says. “I can’t remember everything you’re saying because you’re saying so much.”

Why is this sort of willful ignorance allowed on the bench. Our taxes pay these people $189K a year as a starting salary For What to abuse people and neglect their duty to the point where a child dies. There really should be consequences for this type of person.

Judge Lorintz shoud be permanantly removed from the bench. He should bever be allowed to make another ruling, ever. His should be brought up on accessory to murder charges. His cases current and prior should be scrutinized and nullified if evidence shows bias or unfiarness. How does this person live with himself? A better question is how does his family live with him? A very poor excuse for a Judge.

Lorintz is not fit for the bench. Like many other Family Court judges who are not scrutinized or held accountable for anything, he deferred his judgment to the experts who are all making money off of parents trying to stay safe. He is as guilty of murder as the father and his finacee are in this case. How horrible these judges are allowed to destroy lives and walk away. Get him off the bench

Three young boys suffered horrendous abuse, one died of hypothermia after their abusive father forced him to sleep in the freezing garage. The little boy died half frozen in a nice home and community knowing no one was going to help him. This judge even punished his mother for trying to protect him by taking custody from her. Meanwhile, the father was sent the message that he could do anything to his children and get away with it. What did the judge think would happen? This case is not unique or rare. It’s happening all over the country. Judges like Lorintz are handing custody to domestic abusers, the children pay the price. If this little boy didn’t die, few people would know about the abuse he and his brothers endured in silence. Sadly, so many children are dealing with the same situation in silence. The judges, social workers, attorneys and “experts” involved are never held to account, but that needs to change. I hope reporters look into a powerful and little know family court organization called the Association of Family Concilliation and Courts (AFFC). In many jurisdictions, the AFCC provides the DV training and instead of educating courts to recognize abuse, they muddy the waters about DV, promote pseudoscience like parental alienation, and spread misogynistic fallacies that mothers and children lie about abuse. By siding with the abuser and withholding or twisting evidence of abuse, the conflict is prolonged for the financial benefit of all involved, at the expense of abused children. Well, you can only imagine what kind of depraved and sadistic professional are attracted to such a set up. The judge and everyone involved need to be held accountable. They are just as guilty for the boy’s horrific death as the father and his girlfriend.

This judge was the judge on the Tommy Valva case when he was murdered. He lost election multiple times and is only on the bench because of a political deal. He lied in my case and tried to bully me. As with Zimmerman, he caters to the connected lawyers and appoints “experts” who will agree with him in my opinion.
